"Of Gemma collins or Joey essex for that matter?
I don't wish to be mean however they seem to have gained role model status for simply existing and being morons."
And acting is where it began |

I fucking hate Gemma Collins especially when it made the news every time she lost 3 ounces or so with headlines like “Gemma Collins showcases tiny waist in…….” Then you skip to the pictures and see the “tiny” 50 inch waist of hers |

If you fucking hate it so much don't bother skipping to the pictures. You don't have read that news. Might make you fucking hate things less. |

Haha she’s free to hate them and it wouldn’t bother me if she did everyone’s entitled to like/hate whatever they want. I never read I just looked at the photos I thought maybe after the 60 previous “headlines” of her dramatic weight loss to maybe have a look and see |

I'm going to reply differently. No point repeating the same.
I see the way TV has gone over the years, and can't help but feel it's media manipulation to teach us to celebrate the stupid.
Whether or not they're stupid is a different matter, it's their fame persona we are seeing, and judging.
We became fixated with nonsense, reality TV and the likes, embracing the stupidity, then they started pushing bumbling Boris onto us, encouraging the public to embrace his numbskull ways, reporting on him much like a reality TV star.
The general public fell for it.
We used to celebrate people that changed the world, now we're distracted by anyone the media push onto us.
It's the way I view it anyway. |

Rise of the social media here today gone tomorrow star of the moment. Be it reality TV, content creators on platforms like YouTube or tiktok or those advertising the latest trends or barely disguised set up pranks. It's a thing now. I literally hate those on platforms that stage beef and drama with others to get followers and cash or begging for gifts. Proper cheeses off |

"This is not a knock at the overweight by the way, I just feel if your appearing in an article about your dramatic weight loss some actual weight loss should maybe be apparent ?"
They've done a good job getting attention. Attention, eyes on adverts, equals money.
I'm sure their bank balances are thankful for your critique |

I'll disagree with you about TV being the source but there's definitely something in the culture of celebrity that is a particularly uk phenomenon. I think the press has more of a role in constructing these parasocial relationships. And it's arguable the press is only giving its readers what they want. The Mail website gets a lot of traffic, most from women. What the hell is that about?
As far as bojo was concerned, he constructed a persona and the audience loved him for it. Its a different thing from say Jade Goody, Amy or Pete Doherty.

I would argue neither are stupid. Don't judge a book by its cover... Gemma Collins is an astute business women. And Joey Essex has a charm n appeal to ppl. Which they've both capitalised on. Now is that stupid.....

I should have stuck to the term media, rather than TV, however, TV is used for this also.
Boris, I predicted around 18 months before he was put forward for prime minister, just because I noticed a sudden change in the way media (including TV) had began reporting on him.

"Mst of us know that they are playing to the camera and that people from Essex are not like them " it says fictional characters at the beginning of the show! It was just for entertainment value. Imagine hating on someone you don't know personally lol

It's media marketing at its finest. If someone creates a selling point, their agent will tell them to play up to that. Every 'celebrity' has a persona and its rare you'll ever see the real them so I wouldn't judge them on what you see on TV.
They are people too and most likely find these kinds of attacks hurtful just like the rest of us.

I had Facebook memories that came around showing i did about 2 years before too, but i felt trump getting elected in america was more the signal for it… the media can only dp so much without the public willing lapping it up and trump showed a shift in the public “involvement” in politics |

Not a thing fat phobic about that post, if Danny devito was in a news article claiming to have gained height and the article headline reads “Danny devito shows off nee height as he towers over others” then someone looked at the articles photos and had the sheer audacity to say actually he’s still the same not one person would accuse that person of being phobic of anything nobody would bat an eyelid but god forbid anyone point out that Gemma Collins is the same size she always was |

Except a quick google will prove that the last time she made the news for weight loss she had lost 3.5 stone not 3 ounces and you just want to exaggerate and shame her for it not being enough in your opinion |

Haha well 3.5 stone shared over the 200 previous articles about her weight loss got to be somewhere near 3 ounces between each article so wasn’t far off |
