Yes. No one really cares how you are. Be tight lipped and suffer on your own.
Bollocks! People want to connect and know, they may not have the best skills at opening up a conversation but I’m sure it’s genuine. Paranoia and self doubt often rob us of having authentic connection ruin with others.
Be real. |

No, I thought by now we all know "it's OK, not to be ok"...
But maybe it depends who's asking & how comfortable you feel sharing your true feelings |

I guess when someone asks you that question that knows you, knows something isn't okay and is hoping the answer is "no i'm not okay." but fully expects the answer to be "yes" |

Depends what mood I'm in. If I've had enough of weird neurotypical norms I'll give someone who asks a literal answer.
How am I?
My anxiety levels are currently sky high and I'm not sure why. It's infuriating because my body has decided to feel a ton of anxiety and it's getting in the way of things I'm trying to do. Complete nuisance. |

"Yeah I'm fine. Which I'm completely not obviously you know it and I know it. I'm just giving you a get out of jail free card. "
I’m like this. If they then ask again you know they actually want to know and not just hoping for a get out of jail free card |

No. No the answer does not always have to be "yes" or "fine" - in a culture where we are trying to normalise talking about our mental health, and where we are promoting "it's OK not to be ok", we really need to stop saying we are fine when we aren't. And if you ask someone how they are, and they open up to you, don't ignore them or brush off their feelings...

"Firstly, are you ok?
No but I don’t want to talk about it. - that’s genuine and also what I say if I’m not ok and don’t want to talk about it
Don't talk about it, and sit with the feelings "
I actually do try to do this it’s really good |

Depends who asks the questions and my mood at the time. Sometimes I don't want to talk about it and other times I start talking and don't stop, sometimes I'm actually fine and it's not a lie, sometimes meh covers everything. |

I find myself asking this question twice now .
“Are you okay?”, “no, really, are you okay?”
It can’t be said often enough that it is okay not to be okay.
As it is, I’m doing really good at the moment. Feel in control of things and that I’m making my life better. |

"Bless you all I wasn’t actually asking how you are but I’m glad you’re ok and sad you’re not "
I actually feel like something out of the film Alien is happening inside me. Feels like my uterus is trying to make its way out via my belly button or something. Not pleasant.
But I'll be fine n stuff. Won't finish me off. Etc. |
