never had them in the house since childhood so I have no idea how much I or my partner weigh but we do like watching 'the hairy bikers' and they go to a weigh house and are shocked by the results .. does anyone actually have household scales these days and know their own weight ??

No....I have a favourite Vivian Westwood dress that I use to guage my weight, when it gets too tight I cut down on my food for a couple of weeks, when it is impossible to squeeze on it's salads for a month or two....

It hasn't been too big to wear since 1987!

we have bathroom scales and I don't like them - dislike the wii fit scales even more! But I have to do something and when the balance board yelps 'ouch!' whenever I get on them is an incentive to either do the training and start losing weight or throw the thing out of the window but then until I get my first pay packet at the end of next month; I can't afford to fix the window

I bought some recently to scare myself into losing weight, I weigh myself twice a week these days to make sure I'm not slipping back up, and to encourage myself to stick with my new eating habbits. I've managed to lose 9lbs this month so far

I have never used scales and never will, when I go for my hospital appointments they weigh me there and I am still not bothered.

M has fancy scales that are linked to his phone and does fancy graphs etc but even though they are in our ensuite I still don't use them.

Yes I have some. And yes I know my own weight. I also know that it has been reducing this year, and will do even more now I can back out on the roads and training again.

I've never had the need for them and if I did get some it would be for the purpose of seeing how much weight I'd put on. Come on all you lovelies, please tell me what the secret to gaining weight is.

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

No scales in my house. What for? If my clothes start getting a bit tight I know I'm either overeating or not exercising enough. Easy to remedy.

My bathroom scales are a pretty basic set and when I use them on a proper hard floor they show I’m 10lbs lighter than if I place them on flooring that has even the slightest amount of cushioning effect under the scales…….

I have scales and set myself targets to lose weight. I have them set to kilos though which I can't work out so I know if I'm losing weight but don't have to look at how much I weigh.

(She/ her) in Sensualityland

OH bought a set of scales which are so complex that they do everything but for serving healthy dinners.

They measure weight, BMI, visceral fat, water, metabolic rate and a few other bits and bobs.. and then via memory stick you can upload your profile onto your pc. Cool? Yep but they dont actually make you thinner unless you eat less

Dont own a set, haven't for years. But i do have a friend who monitors every pound of loss or gain.

Im curvy, I have wobbly bits, I dont wish to know how much they weigh .

Yes but they don't work too well, tend to underestimate me by about 3kg compared to the ones at my gym, which look a lot more trustworthy...

I find the body analysis scales really useful when you're training - y'know the ones that show you fluid fat and muscle content for anyone who steps on. Worked a treat while I was training, and recommend them to anyone on a loss regime. Weight readings on their own are useless without some form of composition monitoring - which used to use all sorts of mechanical contraptions and quackery to get ballpark readings - but the electronics are spot on

I do and (although I know they lie) I weigh myself every Monday morning.

Even though I don't agree with the weight they say I am they show a loss nearly every week, which is in line with what I should have lost (according to my very scientific calculations) so I can't dispute that they at least work ....if only they would get the start weight right!
