Non-negotiables

Manchester

We had a sit down last night to review out last few months and see if there's anything we need to change. Anyway, turns out that Tories and Royalists are a massive turn off.

Does anyone else have ideological non-negotiables or is it just the usual physical ones?

I can easily accept that others may have different political views to me and provided they’re not extremist or offensive, as long as we can engage civilly with each other, then I’m less bothered whether they vote Tory, Labour, Liberal, Green, Nationalist Party etc or support, or not, the monarchy.

I’m not on Fab for political or ideological debate, sure if their views are extremist or offensive then there is unlikely to be any compatability.

But I won’t rule out meeting anyone just because the like the King, for example.

The chances of us being attracted to anyone with views juxtaposed to ours is very slim. We only want to let people into our inner sanctum who deserve to be there, so for us it's as bad as extremist views. We deserve the best in our relationship, both in and out of the bedroom.

I have literally been looking for a Tory voting Masochist, who enjoys degradation and humiliation.

Hard to find up here as most of us Scots have the good sense to hate the Tories.

Yes, I can understand that. A meeting of minds as well as bodies.

However from my perspective I’ve seen previously strong families and friends literally split over politics and world events (eg Brexit, Covid etc). Some even over sporting rivalries (one side supports the team in blue, the other the team in red!)

As I’ve got older I’ve realised that life would be boring (and it is indeed far too short!) if we all lived in an echo chamber and shielded ourselves from variety and other points of view.

But as I say, only if we can engage civilly with each other and no extremism or offensive views. In those cases, I agree, there is unlikely to be any compatibility.

I doubt there's anything in an ideological sense that would come up in conversation.

I spend a lot of time in the politics sections, and I'm no doubt blocked by plenty if people because of my views (I'm not Tory) but I have to say politics has never come up in conversation via DM or on a meet.

I tend to delve into history. I know you think I'm British really, but did you know that Australia voted for independence in the 18-fucking-80s? That we're actually a country? (There's indirect evidence in my family tree that my family were thinking about the question of federation at the time it was happening - some extremely historically contingent names going on )

It's this weird kind of backhanded cultural erasure. You look like me, therefore any differences don't count. Ok. Thanks I think, I'm out.

Anyone who lists on their profile that they won't meet anyone who votes for a particular party, regardless of the political party, is a complete no for me.

It tells me they have a complete inability to respect and understand the views of others unless they are the same as their own which is really unattractive to me.

Indeed not. The children overboard scandal that resulted from that, compounded with the panic over September 11, led to a bipartisan fascist turn on immigration in Australia. They're doing better now, but that's damning with pretty fucking faint praise

I tend to think political views are too intricate to group into left and right etc. More views issue by issue that matter, to me.

Being able to hold a conversation with that kind of depth is a non-negotiable. Different opinions are welcomed and appreciated. With a few exceptions...

Racism is definitely a non-negotiable; there have been people immediately kicked into touch on that one. 'I wouldn't have said that if I knew your kids were mixed-race.' Oh that's ok then, you're racist, but you know it's offensive - that's so much better. Sure let's go for cocktails.

Ability to appreciate dark humour, sarcasm satire is a must. It's an ideological belief for me.

Authoritarianism: believing you have a right to tell other people how to live their lives can be for me.

Tories seems to be one of the big noes on here. I have to say that I would not exclude somebody solely on the basis of the specific label of their political leanings, but feel that I should consider their character in a more holistic manner. There is clearly an immense difference between an erudite and horourable individual such as Rory Stewart, once outside odds contender for the leadership of the Conservative and Unionist Party, and the fat pig that did in fact become the tory PM through a process of lying and corruption.

I am certain that if I were somehow invited for dinner with Rory and his good lady Shoshana, it would be an evening of excellent conversation, agreeable disagreement at times, finding points in common at other times. All present would show empathy, tolerance, intelligence, understanding, humanity...

However I would rather fuck a p*g than spend any time with the canker on the face of the body politic that spent the last several years destroying the United Kingdom, betraying everything decent purely out of greed and self-entitlement.

So for me, fewer hard lines, much more of an intersectionalist approach.

"I had sex with a tory once, she really thought herself superior. Ex wife of a parliamentary candidate.

I was the gardener to her lady chatterley. The sex was good but the dynamic stank.

Somethings just ain't worth it, you have to be able to look at yourself in the mirror."

Was she from here?

I don't think any ideologies would be spoken about that much to be honest. I would hope that as long they make me laugh and aren't completely dismissive of my beliefs and what I want, we'd get on grand.

"We had a sit down last night to review out last few months and see if there's anything we need to change. Anyway, turns out that Tories and Royalists are a massive turn off.

Does anyone else have ideological non-negotiables or is it just the usual physical ones? "

Same plus those with the

The Sydney university thing in their profile,it puts me off badly

I've been surprised by how often it does come up - and I used to bite my tongue and let it be.

Now I'm just like, nope. I don't need that discomfort in my life when I'm trying to have fun. Preference is sacrosanct etc

That's a good point, I suppose all it takes is an off the cuff remark for your opinion to really turn. Now that I think about it, I have had it in clubs and socials. There was one guy I was talking to who was part of a couple and he actually described himself as "more of an alpha"

I remember several moments where my stomach dropped. But I tried to make nice.

My comfort matters too, though, and nope. I'm done with that. I'm here to have fun not fix democratic fragmentation or whatever.

I'm all for people having something they feel passionate about.

Just don't bang on about it while you're with me.

I don't want debates, or lectures with people from here.

I'm here to give my brain a rest and give my body pleasure.

There's the problem.

If someone doesn't say anything before you meet it can be awkward afterwards.

I had someone drop me home once and tell me he doesn't meet anyone who's had sex with black or bi men.

That was a conversation we should have had before he put his penis in me; and I told him so.

I'm a bit sad to say this but I wish I was the same. I think I'd try to compromise a bit too much when I should stand my ground and not mind if it creates conflict on their side. To sum it up... I'm a fucking soft touch

In a club I’ll generally stay away from subjects I’m passionate about, but if something is said and it really gets under my skin. There is always someone out for everyone is all I will say as I head to the bar and not the bedroom.

On here I do read profiles so won’t engage if they have something written I totally find abhorrent.

At the same time I have no doubt that my woke, lefty, anti Tory and snowflake opinions will put others off me, GOOD

I don’t care for people’s ideologies/ political preferences. Just here to meet fuck and light banter enough to enable that.

If people start asking me stuff about that I just say I don’t discuss stuff like that .

I can accept that we all have differing views, morals etc. What is completely non negotiable to me is, anyone spreading hatred, people without a kind heart, I just can’t accept that in my life.

"The irony is strong"

And that's the reason for the question. We're fully aware of the paradoxical nature of this, but for us to share ourselves with someone else, we have to have certain boundaries.

Anyone who thinks that they can disrupt others lives to inflict their cause on others, such as just stop oil or extinction rebellion protests.

Anyone who thinks laws and decency don’t apply to them.

They can all do one.

Do you have the same views about the Suffragettes and Emmeline Pankhurst and what they did for womens rights? Honest question.

I’d like to think I wouldn’t meet anyone who’s particularly nasty or extremist in their views.

But no one on a swinger site would know what political party I vote for and it’s not something I’d discuss, similar to other beliefs.

If we match sexually and aesthetically, I’m happy.

Dating, I’d have a much higher standard for personality and beliefs. But i don’t have such deep conversations with fab/ clubs guys as I don’t do regular meets and not here for friends.

Yes, the ones who thought that bombing arson and murder was acceptable.
