My gf and I go to bed around the same time most weeknights. There's cuddling and kissing before sleep. The odd night, weekends or 1 weeknight here and there, I prefer to stay up. Watch TV, play xbox or masturbate. She gets upset when we don't go to bed together. I get that it's a form of non-sexual intimacy and she really values it but I like staying up the odd night past midnight to do stuff on my own. Our sex life is great btw. Its not just for sexual intimacy. It can be about being close to each other strengthening the emotional connection too.
I used to find going to bed together was the time we did a lot of talking and twatting around. No distractions just inches apart. It gives you intimate time of togetherness.
We'd lay there talking about the most random things and laughing until it hurt sometimes.
