I use a free call blocker app. You can change the settings to block anyone not on your contact list, or nuisance class etc. You can block just calls, sms, or a combination of both |

Thank you...I tried the first 2 suggestions but they dont give you the option to blacklist a private or withheld number, only to delete it. You can add anyone with a number but not, so it seems, a private or withheld one. I just wondered if there was anyway of doing this in the settings without blocking all unknown but not withheld numbers from calling your handset. |

"Phone-left button -call settings- call rejection-auto reject list-tick unknown"
Thank you...but this blocks all unknown numbers to your phone calling you too....not just withheld numbers...i.e. if someone new who wasn't withholding their number, like a shop for example, or a friend with a new number was calling then as you dont have the number stored in your phone it wont recognize it and will therefore block it.
Thank you for trying to find the answer for me though |

Download Mr Number for free. You can use it to block withheld numbers. It should be free from google play.
The number will actually ring then get dumped incredibly quickly so there is a fractional burst of your ringtone then the call gets hung up on. |
