I regret having a block driveway done, it's a never ending job of cleaning and pulling out s from between the bricks wouldn't be so bad if it was only a small driveway, but it can fit two cars with room to spare, wish i had gone with tarmac now, anyone else regretting a block driveway ? |

My previous house, had a block paving drive, big enough to, at a pinch, get 7 vehicles on it.
Inevitably, the s started appearing eventually.
Before I got round to doing something about it, my local L/R garage screwed up a safety recall on my Discovery (I know, my own fault for having a L/R), and the best part of a (90 ltr) tank of diesel poured out, all over the drive!
End result, L/R had to have the drive pressure washed, and then re-sanded.....took them 3 days! Sorted out the issue though!
Moved before they got too bad again. |

Hahaha. The curse of censorship.
I would have block paving, I know it’s maintaining it that’s a pain, but I think they look nice. |

"Roundup is your friend OP.
I have a few regrets, but a driveway isn't one of them."
Roundup was/is involved in a lawsuit due to accusations it causes cancer I believe.
I use Algon probably twice a year.. pet friendly. Sunny day followed by a rainy one to wash any burn off |

Here’s a solution that does work but people will say oh u can’t/shouldn’t do that.:
But im a builder and think outside the box to come up with solutions to problems that others have walked away from:::
And use materials not specified for certain jobs...
Basically if you do it properly once this works..
Give it all a deep thorough jet wash..
Pour powerful killer by the bucket over it and leave to dry 24 hrs...
Then either sweep sand or use the brush in mortar to fill all the gaps between the blocks..
The better you do this part less maintenance after...
Then get water based ronseal all weather seal and use the jet washer to spray it heavily all over it... basically flood it... it will soak in and seal it up after 24hrs...
Done properly all you have to do is flash over it with the jet washer now and then..
Bit of a ball ache after you’ve paid for a lovely block paved drive...
But a few hundred quid more and a bit of time then it’s done |
