One of the saddest songs has to be " IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A WAY OUT " ODDESSEY

Maps - Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

That video. Those tears.

The song’s about a girl leaving her boyfriend to go out on tour. Or maybe him going out on tour and leaving her. It’s ambiguous.

But then when they arrived to film the video … Karen O’s boyfriend broke up with her, and walked out to go on tour with his own band. Genuinely. Moments before the cameras rolled.

Those tears are real.

Now watch the video again, with that knowledge.

"These are the days of our lives - Queen "

I watched this on YouTube recently. It was one of their last concerts and they announced it as a new song. Freddie kicked off by saying “There have been lots of rumours about us splitting up. They’re not true, we’ll be together until we’re dead.” That really got me reflecting during a wonderful but sad song.

This one is a real juxtaposition- its a fairly uptempo song with depressing lyrics

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss- Long Journey

I first heard it the week someone i knew off here dropped down dead suddenly- so it always reminds me of her (she'd have also fucking loved it too- glass in hand, nodding away)

If you want a couple of other good ones, Depeche Mode- Blasphemous Rumours is a cheery one.

Also, read the lyrics of UB40's 1 in 10- its utterly fucking depressing that after 40 years, not a lot has changed (i can recommend trying to find the Miles Hunt version (him of The Wonder Stuff and that bloody cow song)as its one of the best covers i've heard for years)

Wind beneath my wings...

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

It must have been cold there in my shadow

To never have sunlight on your face

You were content to let me shine, that's your way

You always walked a step behind

So I was the one with all the glory

While you were the one with all the strength

A beautiful face without a name for so long

A beautiful smile to hide the pain

Did you ever know that you're my hero

And everything I would like to be?

I can fly higher than an eagle

For you are the wind beneath my wings

It might have appeared to go unnoticed

But I've got it all here in my heart

I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it

I would be nothing without you

Did you ever know that you're my hero?

You're everything I wish I could be

I could fly higher than an eagle

For you are the wind beneath my wings

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?

You're everything, everything I wish I could be

Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle

For you are the wind beneath my wings

'Cause you are the wind beneath my wings

Oh, the wind beneath my wings

You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings

Fly, fly, fly away, you let me fly so high

Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings

Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings

Fly, fly, fly high against the sky

So high I almost touch the sky

Thank you, thank you

Thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings

Vangelis from the Blade Runner soundtrack.

I played it at my wife's funeral. We both found it so sad. We both loved it.

"One of the saddest songs has to be " IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A WAY OUT " ODDESSEY

or " HONEY " Bobby Goldsbourgh.

Both of these would melt the hardest heart . "

I love the song Honey, but yes it's very sad.

Tell Me There's a Heaven by Chris Rea is another consideration
