I've no idea. One observation I do have is certain vegan foods can be expensive. Maybe it has something to do with the cost of living and people turning to alternatives. There's plenty of other foodstuffs out there that are vegan but not actually classed specificly as vegan.

Please explain this to me, if meat is so bad why are these people (please note my intolerance of the sanctimonious herbivores) trying desperately, and not in a carbon neutral manner, to get vegetables to look and taste like meat...

It is like a paediatric sex doll... it is Frecking wrong!

To get omnivores to eat it. I became vegan because I didn't like the taste, smell or texture of meat in my mouth (stop tittering at the back). I hate a lot of vegan meat substitutes now because they are too like the real thing

Maybe most vegans prepare food using vegetables and don’t subscribe to the processed muck that’s being advertised heavily.

Despite some genuine people who are really concerned about animal/health/climate issues, the thing has become a racket. It's a money earner for big business, the whole climate debate has been hijacked by corporations.

Maybe it's because they prepare the food themselves but also there are better alternatives coming onto the market every day

Explain this to me, if there's a food out there that looks and tastes like meat but doesn't involve torturing and killing an animal to make why would you keep eating the dead one?

You've got two burgers. Both juicy and succulent and flavourful. One is made from plants and one cried for their mother before they were gassed to death. And I'm weird for eating the plant one?

I agree, and you're keeping to the point relevant to the data presented by the OP.

I'm a meat eater but I'm eating a lot less of it these days. So now when I do a stir-fry for example, I'll add a few slices of chopped bacon but everything else vegetables. Before, it'll be a chicken/pork stir-fry about 50% meat.

People may just be learning to cook from scratch rather than buying plant-based ready-meals.

Also if meat is so good why is it illegal to film it being produced? Why do they often have to change the name of what you're eating to make it more palatable? Gregg Wallace has a show going around factories showing how crisps are made but there's no shows going around slaughterhouses showing how your steak gets made. Never any documentaries showing how dairy cows get impregnated (it's forcefully and without consent) Or what happens after they give birth and where their children go (they're largely separated at birth and cows feel emotional pain). Or what happens when they stop producing milk (impregnated again on the "r*pe rack"). No documentaries about what happens to male chicks (they're put in a blender at birth). No documentaries about battery farming, removing chickens' beaks. No documentaries about how we kill pigs in gas chambers and how they're smart enough to know what's going to happen to them and they plead and panic as they're forced down blood stained hallways.

But they're just for food I guess. Not like dogs. Oh but we use dogs to test tobacco and have factories where beagles are tied up and subjected to smoke in their eyes. And rabbits with chemicals injected in their eyes.

But yeah why *do* vegans sometimes eat sausages that taste like a pork sausage! Aren't they fucking insane?? It ain't right!!
