A conversation in the early hours had me thinking. Bar the illegal stuff, the things banned on here...
Is there anything you'll never post about? Whether that's negative (messy break up, health issues, personal life, crap sex etc) or positive (food, great sex, dates/dalliances you're looking forward to/have enjoyed).

There was a thread yesterday that I could've said so much on. But to justify my response would've meant revealing too much of myself. Things that I'm not prepared for Fab to know about me. So yes, there's things I won't say.

Ah that's understandable - it can be good to keep some things close to your chest. It's not you being false or not showing the real you, just sensible. x |

I won’t post about bits of my private life, for obvious reasons, but I do share some stuff, eg, my name isn’t really Woody, but I won’t say what it actual is in here.
I also try not to post about the shite/bad side of Fab, I’ve had my let downs, I know some gossip etc, but what does screaming about it solve? I’d rather push the good vibes and hopefully that sets my standards as where I’d want others to be. If that makes sense.

We all have our limits to what we post on this site and others, some go over the top to lie and some just can’t stop themselves
But all on all there are certain matters in life that people would not post about.
I would like to think so anyway |

Although I understand this, I’m now sure a lot of the people on the forum have moved from ‘stranger’ status to ‘mild social media people that I recognise!’
Do you still think of everyone here as strangers? |

Yes, that's part of what inspired this thread. They asked why I hadn't posted on something and the honest answer was - I don't want people knowing everything. I'm really quite private beyond a superficial level and it takes a lot for me to open up. I prefer keeping things at that level unless I can really trust someone and know they care.

For me it’s very personal stuff, bad negative things, and actually about past meets and sexual experiences.
I know many people are open to discussing previous sexual things but that’s just not me. I’m more private about my life here on fab

This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, it's more aimed at avoiding this thread becoming one of the more negative ones. I'm too happy for that today. And I don't want it removed.
So let's focus on you, step away from discussing gossip etc. You are far more interesting. That's not meant in a bad way, far from it.

There are probably more subjects I won't post about than there are those on which I will.
Mainly because I have little or no experience of them and I don't offer opinions on things I know very little about.
I'll give broad answers in regards to my own experiences but don't get into too much detail because apart from the fact that everyone here is a random stranger a lot of people seem to forget that these forums are not restricted to fab members and are completely public.
I never discuss my sex life on here either and that includes likes and dislikes.
I understand some people are happy to do so and some get off on doing so but I much prefer to have those conversations one to one. |

I wear my heart on my sleeve and that’s sometimes to my detriment. On the forums I’ve been open about the death of my grandson and my domestic abuse marriage which are very personal subjects but they have been on threads where I’ve felt like it was a safe place to discuss them
I’ll never talk about who I meet, see or spend time with sexually that’s something I keep private |

I won’t post personal experiences anymore because people think I’m lying. Wouldn’t talk about work, family life or any of that personal shit. But I don’t mind some personal things- like that I have depression and anxiety- because they’re part of me and I think more people should be open about those things to challenge stigma. |

Oh I welcome tangents. Love them. The most enjoyable conversations are ones in which I can flit from topic to topic. It's natural isn't it?
But I don't want this to be "oh this person does negative x" in a veiled way if that makes sense?
I really appreciate people discussing things on here and it's not a slight on any poster here - everyone is welcome. I just don't want it to be removed or become a truly negative one. x |

Oh that makes perfect sense!
Screaming about it doesn't make sense but it can also help people at times so I can't be too hard on those who do.
I realised something - much like I've only had three negative messages in my time on Fab, if I post in the manner of energy I'm feeling/wanting to attract (not in a sexual way!) it really helps improve my time on here. |

I'll post about pretty much anything to be honest. I obviously won't reveal personal information or any in depth details about family etc. I respect other people like to keep it light and private but for me it's good to talk and it's something I do in real life when the conversation turns towards that point.
I won't ever discuss my relationship with some users to other users and I'm pretty private when it comes to that sort of thing because people on here are strange. |

I like those little insights in to how someone really feels on a topic, their lives. It makes someone feel more real to me if that makes sense? Heck, it could be someone posting that they can't be arsed to cook and are having a takeaway. I think "yep, I see you". |

Honestly, Meli, I don't really know. I've shared some very personal stuff on this forum in the time I’ve been here, and I'd never have thought I'd have given most of that to the internet.
I don't have regrets about sharing any of it, the couple of times I've changed my mind after posting I have been within the delete post time so I've got rid of it fairly quickly, whether that's been before someone has notices or not has varied.
I won't post anything that might hurt or upset someone, not deliberately. But that's about my limit. |

Never would. I guess whenever you get a group of people together either in person of offline chat about others will happen, some of that chat won't be nice/true and that some will try and sway opinions of others.
I'm happier out of the offline playground and having been to a fair few socials over the years I'm aware people talk but have never heard anyone being abusive or derogatory about others.
Maybe I've been lucky.

I'm a pretty open book in general, if someone asks me something regardless of topic I'll probably answer.
I used to be very private but I got tired of fearing people knowing things I didn't want them too so I stopped caring.
The things I wouldn't talk about are more about protecting other people identity and privacy. |

I haven't seen that. It's either...
a) because we're pretty new
b) because we don't send gossip
c) because we're the subject
J
Haha I know that .. You two seem cool tbh
Who told you that?
J
You are awesome. But I don't think I told Grumpy that. Yet.
Oi, Grumps... these two rock "
An endorsement indeed |

"Yes. I will never post about other people. Specifically my relationships/interactions with them. It doesn't matter if its good or bad, it's not something I will post about. I don't even display my veris, some of which are very flattering indeed. "
You have flattering veris? I had no idea.
It not mattering if it's good or bad is lovely; respectful almost? I like that it's equal treatment. |

I sometimes think I post too much about my demons in here though usually on threads dealing with that.
If it came to the time I gave into my demons wouldn't post that here as most wouldn't care or notice and even less could offer practical help even if they wanted to. |

"A conversation in the early hours had me thinking. Bar the illegal stuff, the things banned on here...
Is there anything you'll never post about? Whether that's negative (messy break up, health issues, personal life, crap sex etc) or positive (food, great sex, dates/dalliances you're looking forward to/have enjoyed).
"
I will never post anything that could identify me in daily life |

Yes. I dont really post anything negative, especially about the current agendas, like covid, climate change and the war, only hinting sometimes some negative things, but I dont really say what I truly think about it |

"I try not to get drawn into pointless arguments. I step away at that point cos it's a waste of energy. I don't always manage, though
Mrs TMN x"
Ha, it's a struggle isn't it? It might not come as a big surprise to anyone who knows me but if I know something to be true (and I have evidence to show it) I can debate my point almost ruthlessly.
Lately I've become so much better at defusing a situation and saying I don't want to argue/debate and reminding myself the other person has value. A few years ago on here I was a proper bitch. I'm softening though and step away. Spend that energy on a lover or a friend instead. |

Linking threads, I'm very unlikely to post what's in my invisible backpack. Or at least what's heaviest in it. I'm quite in awe of those that do/can, and can see that this can be a supportive place; I'm just not a big sharer in that sense.

I often start typing whether to start a thread or comment on one and change my mind deleting it. I'm not sure if it's because I don't think my opinion will add anything to what's already been said or that I don't want to open myself to questioning or sounding like I want sympathy. Not sure that makes sense and I'm too hot to proof read |

Same... if someone is having trouble with their mental health, i try to offer support, and my experience x |

I often type stuff, re-read and think that shite but refuse to delete as it took effort to type…… like now for instance… |

There's some things I wouldn't share. Usually because it's something sacred between myself and someone else and it's something they wouldn't want to be shared.
Then there are a few things I am careful who I share with that are more an act of self-preservation, but that's a former life |

I won't post anything to do with politics. I won't post on the virus section. Who has energy for that kind of discussion?! Not me!
My energy levels are vital to my existence, so I use it only for positivity.

I'm not entirely sure what I will and won't post.
It depends on how it feels.
Generally I'm quite open about my actual self, very expressive, I like to share opinions and learn of others opinions, I like to debate.
I'm also quite closed in other ways, there are things I feel I don't want to share here, and try to remain close to what the site is predominantly about.

I liked your first post, you made me laugh.
Yes, how you feel definitely plays into your willingness to share.
That ability to debate, truly listen to others and consider their views is a good one to have. Sometimes I think it's becoming increasingly lost which is a shame. |

"I don't post about my personal life on here ....but would just like to say that when I first came on here I was in a bad way personally and came on to just browse and chat with people...got talking to somebody and I felt a vibe from that person and we talked about everything(before even meeting) anyway he didn't know but he practically saved my life, just by talking to me and checking in on me...
I found that very nice and comforting, so sometimes you do just find that a "stranger" is all you need!! #positivevibes..
That's amazing glad you are in a better space now."
Thankyou x |

I think I'm probably the opposite and often reveal too much. Depending on the situation, my mood, other factors.
I try hard not to be mean, nasty or unkind to anyone though. I guess that's my boundary.
Even although sometimes I'm thinking things like that. |

The polarization caused by social media and the narrowing of the boundaries of compromise are becoming the definition of the 21st century. That and COVID, Climate change,Bojo, Brexit, Ukraine, sportswashing,AI .. to name a few. Mx |

There are certain things I'll definitely never post about. Then there are things I'd normally think I'd never post about but suddenly have a fuck it, I'm posting it anyway moment. Sometimes I can be a fairly open book and other times I'm completely closed up, just depends on the moment. |

There isn't anything I avoid talking about really. But then I genuinely don't care what people think about me. I'm kinda like that in life outside Fab too. Possibly I overshare but when I wasore secretive people used knowledge about me against me. Now people know most things they can't do that anymore. |

"I have a tendency to overshare AND waffle.
What's the 16 digit number on the front of your bank card..
And the 3 numbers on the back "
See your letting on the trick it’s a well know one, everyone knows the size of a bank card so can you just hold your bank card against your cock/breasts with your fingers just on the corner, that’s right now if you turn it over we know it’s not photoshopped. |

I have posted about some incredibly personal things, and recently re-reading my profile I think it gives a very raw account of myself. So I don't seem to do a huge amount of self-censorship.
Probably wouldn't be wise to publish my full name and address, though there are more than a few friends from fab that are privvy to that information.
I wouldn't write anything that was deliberately racist, sexist, transphobic, ableist, homophobic etc, though like most of us I might unintentionally offend as use of language and societal mores evolve. I would hope to do better if informed of my error.
I normally would not directly insult or attack anyone - but I am only human and occasionally some utter tosspot and twat might appear who really does just need telling!
So apart from all that lot, what wouldn't I post? I don't kiss and tell. I might be a bit old fashioned and reserved, but I won't write explicit details of exactly who did what to who in the bedroom (living room, kitchen, hallway, shower, car back seat...). Maybe just a little naughty suggestion at most ("and honestly I've never seen anyone use a stick of celery like that before" )
