Do you express yourself through your fashion choices/accessories/looks?
Do your outfits make statements ? Whether it's a nod to your beliefs with an appropriate slogan T-shirt or latest nod to a trend craze? My brain is buzzing so hard to put in in words but I love people watching and wondering what they try to tell the world about themselves via their outside shell.
Inspired by cleavage thread and thoughts on: do we dress for ourselves or for others? Ultimately I guess in majority we dress for ourselves but we want others to "read" us in certain way. Maybe. I'm brainstorming out loud. Join me.

I dress for me, because I feel good when I look good.
I don't have a particular style, I could be a denim shorts one day, a vintage style dress the next, really depends on my mood or what I'm doing and if I can be bothered to shave my legs lol
Mostly I just like to feel comfortable. |

This is why I love charity shops, got some beautiful items recently! The heels in my pics (only worn in the bedroom) were brand new, M&S, 6.99! |

I tend to dress like a redneck,
Checked shirt, jeans, boots and a T shirt, I like to think I can still look dressed but also go a hike, climb a tree or throw a lady over my shoulder and carry her off to my cabin
I don’t generally wear suits or dress too smartly, but people say I look nice in a suit and tie. I just don’t feel comfortable x |

I’d be so cool I gained a lot of weight due to my hormones not working, so I felt uncomfortable in my clothes for aaaaaages. But recently bought a new wardrobe and I’m sort of getting more comfortable with what I wear. I used to be so self conscious but now I just don’t give a fuck |

Our clothing and appearances are a form of social communication. We want to project a different message depending on the setting, then there's also how your appearance is perceived by others. If you haven't read the killer post over on that thread, it's worth it. |

Good questions T! I will move my MLS pic back to public for a bit to provide context.
At work my clothes have to be modest and practical. They say very little about me.
Outside of work, hmmm. I do like a band t-shirt, jeans/shorts and converse/vans/docs for everyday wear. Our current profile pic is very me.
Going out, my outfit for the MLS is dressed up me. Slightly retro/vintage style AND I actually remembered to put on a necklace.
I always forget accessories! I wish I wore them more. But that heart necklace is really special, it was an expensive present from me to me and I've had it over 20 years now.

It really depends on what I'm doing and my mood to be honest. Some days it's all black jeans and t-shirt and some days it's bright flowery print dress.
I just put on whatever I feel comfortable in that day |

I’m too skint to afford even charity shop clothing. So I stick with what I got. A bunch of T-shirts, and a bunch of shorts.
I’ll take any freebies if it’ll fit a fat geezer. |

I don't really make any statements with my clothes. Not deliberately anyway. My "style", such as there is one, is fairly classic. Understated. Preppy I guess, which I think probably does reflect my personality! But I promise I'm not quite as dull as that sounds. Well, I hope not anyway. |

Let's call it a capsule wardrobe. If it's good it can be worn for decades
This reminded me.
I used to have lots of hand me downs as a child as couldnt afford lots of new things and my Grandma had a sewing machine. Some outfits we came up with together were great, some less so. I wish I learnt sewing from her, but I have no patience for it Anyway, my point was the new isn't always better. I hope things get better for you |

Yes I do. I do it for myself mostly, but I'd be lying if I said there wasn't times where I was trying to impress someone with my outfit choices. I've had way too much cleavage and thigh on show this week and that wasn't just for me.
I'm quite a floral, pastel and colourful kind of woman, my wardrobe is full of beautiful dresses and skirts. I buy pieces if I like them, and not just because they are what is trending at the moment. I think most of my outfits reflect my personality well. As cute as a button, creative and sometimes a little bit of seductivenese thrown in to show I'm not as innocent as most people think.
But that's just me. I completely understand that some people just dress however the fuck they want and it doesn't always mean it's a part of their personality or they want to show the world a glimpse of them through their clothing choices. |

To be fair, I think skin tones play a big part in colours you choose for your clothes and think pastels really do suit to a T. I've struggled with certain colours and wondered whether they would suit me so I've generally stuck with the usual blues, blacks, greys with the odd maroon t shirt or jumper. |

In all fairness you are not obliged to express anything. You can be as practical or as comfortable as you wish.
You do change from the lab coat sometimes though? |

Day to day I dress for comfort. We went through a long period of being broke, so spending money on myself was always the lowest priority, so I lived in supermarket jeans and tshirts that I've had for ages. I still do for the most part. On the rare occasion I treat myself I like deep dive replicas of clothes worn in tv/movies I like, for example a copy of a t-shirt 'The Dude' wears in The Big Lebowski, or Roy wears in the IT crowd.
If I'm buying clothes for going out, then I usually take J with me as I want to look good for her, and if she 'helps me choose' then I know what I'm wearing at least bears her stamp of shagability.

"Yes I do.
I feel they do express you well. Or the part we get to know here as that's not all of who you are those cardigans especially - adorable like you.

I wear dresses once in a while for special occasions but my wardrobe is mostly concert T-shirts, Gruntstyle T shirts , jeans, yoga pants flannels and hoodies. |
