Ladies are wearing fewer items of clothes in the gym! For exercise or for attention?

I've started wearing just a vest and shorts to the gym recently. Like those women, it's not for attention, it's because it's kinda fucking roasting

No one’s going to the gym for attention; they are going to exercise, and it’s already roasting without added sweat

And anyway…it doesn’t matter what women at the gym are wearing; just let them get on with it

If they're not naked, let them wear what feels comfortable to them. Head down, headphones in and focusing on your own workout is a good way to avoid it

People can wear what they want and I couldn't give a shit but....

I manage just fine in a tee-shirt and shorts as do many others - there's such a thing as aircon and its no warmer now than 2 months ago. Some of course feel the need to wear skimpy clothes though strangely enough this is only ever the ones with objectively stunning physiques. You'd think the bigger, more over weight people would be struggling with the heat more but it's never them wearing the crop tops, the leggings designed so the seam sits on the wearers sphincter or indeed the muscle vests or tight tee shirts straining to fit around the arms. The bigger people will be the ones in hoodies and baggy clothes, worn to hide the bits of themselves they hate because society says you should only be in the gym if you look like a Greek deity.

Of course some people dress to be noticed - the best response is to ignore them. If I want to be distracted by a barely clothed female there's porn, I go to the gym to improve my running, fuck off with all your posing.

Rubbish. If no one is going to the gym for attention why do they film themselves and post it everywhere?

Have to agree and call this out!

I mentioned to the owner of my local gym that he should consider a posing/social media area so the scantily clad and fully made up folk can take pics of themselves whilst everyone else does their thing!

As others have said, wear and be what you want, live your best life but let’s not tell ourselves the sky is green and scantily clad gym clothes aren’t akin to soft porn; if the latter wasn’t true, why don’t professional female athletes dress that way on track, whilst training, etc etc

What's it matter what you wear as long as it makes you feel comfortable or encourage you

Theirs also nothing wrong in paying a compliment to the ones you think are wearing skimpy gym wear (think she could have had a crap start to the day and for someone to walk by and say your killing it and carry on could make her day )

I'm one that's has to have a word with myself to stop staring lol

I’m fat and wear a vest and 5 inch shorts. It’s comfortable and has nothing to do with getting attention.

I 100% know women that go to the gym for attention. They spend ages deciding what to wear to look good, then spend ages doing their makeup before they go. They time their visits to coincide with particular people that they want attention from. Then afterwards they’ll discuss who was and who wasn’t checking them out, and they’ll check their socials to see if any of the people there have messaged them.

There’s three female colleagues of mine who openly discuss this all the time.

Just the thought of exercise is making me sweat at the moment and it's so hot I have to keep going to the AC units to cool down. I could wear less but don't - that's my own confidence. More power to the people that are comfortable enough to wear less without getting chub rub!

I'm sure some wear for a bit of attention but maybe it's just my gym that everyone seems to be there to work out and never see the selfie/video side of things! Anyway there are some fabulous bums in my gym so I'm happy to enjoy a glance now and then

There probably are some folks of all sexes who dress for attention in the gym. But that doesn't always mean the skimpy clothes. If I'm squatting heavy or swinging a kettlebell then I want lycra shorts or leggings that won't come down a bit or roll over because that is really distracting. If I'm going overhead then a top that rides up is very annoying so yeah it could just be a crop top. My fitness wear follows function.

Need to be cool in the gym and warm when you leave because the air will feel cold on your sweat. That’s the way I’ve always seen it thought haven’t been to a gym in years. Miss it a lot!

And how does it affect you whether people are recording themselves or what they're wearing? I record sets all the time to check my form, especially on squats and deadlifts. Live and let live and like I said before, jus focus on your own workout and you'll be fine.

Have you ever watched athletics?

Look at what they wear for pole vault and a 100m sprint.

No, but as I said above, for me sometimes the most practical outfit for my workout is skintight lycra. I'm wearing it so it doesn't ride up or roll down. Not for people to perve at. Other folks are there to be seen. Tricky to know who's who I suppose.

Saw a clit piercing on a girl at the gym the other day.

If they're going to wear skintight clothes at least buy decent ones, not primarks cheapest.

I suppose many of them wear tight clothing as they are watching their form, harder to see in baggy clothes.

Of course there are those who are looking for attention - they're usually the ones who wear a face full of makeup to the gym and spend 5 mins on their phone between sets whilst hogging machines, so there to be seen but not actually doing any real exercise. Luckily there are few of those in my gym and I pay them little attention until they are in my way.
