Do you always make a big occassion of your birthday? Always do something special to mark the day?

I dont normally, will get together with my family at the weekend, but Id generally just have a normal day, maybe something nice for dinner. However, I will be turning 40 very shortly, and Im really looking forward to it because Ive taken the whole week off work and have lots of lovely things planned, with family, friends, and by myself! I feel like I am really treating myself this year and Im loving it!

Did you do anything special for a big birthday?

X

Oh exciting!

And no, not really. I don’t have many friends anymore so I kinda just chill. My husband and son always make me feel special though

Last year was the big 30 so a lot of people planned stuff for me. I had whole two weeks of travel, events, fun and frolics everyday.

This year I'll still celebrate but not so much extra

I had a really big party for my 18th, was at university for my 21st so just d*unk in a cheesy club somewhere; chose an achingly cool place for my 30th (yeah, I know, and it was probably too cool for me); and had a weekend away in the countryside with my family for my 40th with dinner in a nice pub. The 4 ages of man.

Next milestone birthday is 50 but I really don't want to confront that prospect yet!

Happy birthday in advance, OP!

No. I'm not a fan of the day.

Not really. We have never had the money to be able to do anything too exciting. It's been a little day trip out somewhere and lots of delicious food with my partner and daughter over the past few years. But we have made a promise to make big deals out of the big birthdays from now on since we have a bit more disposable income and life is fucking short and can be gone in a moment. I'm 30 in a few weeks and we are whisking ourself off to a fancy hotel for three nights, just the two of us.

Sounds like you're going to have amazing week celebrating turning 40! I hope it is magical.

It's Mr TT2s birthday tomorrow (shhhhh) and we're not doing anything big. We are going to spend the day together whilst the kids are at school and be *name* and *name*, until we're back to being mum and dad

For my 40th we celebrated both at a house party. My 30th I jumped out a plane. 15000ft skydive. My 20th I was ill and couldent get out of bed. Ive got 6and half years till my 50th.

For my birthday no. I just want people to fuck off and leave me alone. Haven't done anything for years. 40 was good. I had Covid so legitimately had to stay in for Christmas and birthday

This year I spent the day on my own pleasing myself and enjoying my own company

Next year probably won't get away with it but want to go to a hot beach lay naked all day in the sun, swim in the sea and drink champagne.

Thats a great idea, double celebration! Or do they have to change all the decorations at 12:30?

Wow, a skydive, thats an epic thing to do. I also want to push myself as part of my 40th celebrations, but that just to go to a club for the 1st time, ha. Thats out of my comfort zone enough for me

your wildest dreams,

Aw congratulations I hope it turns out exactly as you hope.

For my 50th, I did 50 things I’d never done before. Friends, work colleagues helped come up with ideas. Mainly stupid things but it was just about setting out something different each week

I had a big meal with all my friends and family for my 18th then my dad took me out for my first legal drink just the two of us which was special.

It’s my 30th next year. I’ve been dropping hints about a party so fingers crossed someone has been picking up on them

Deepest darkest Peru

I turned fifty last December. My celebrations started in Edinburgh in November and lasted right through till the end of January in Liverpool.

Kids arranged a surprise birthday party which was just amazing. Over the 10 weeks I celebrated I had so many weekends away with different sets of friends and laughed non stop. So many fantastic memories made with the people who mean the most to me

Tonypandy.

I'm 50 this year and taking myself to Vietnam.

Booked venues for 30th and 40th birthdays, and nobody bothered to show.

Fuck that game again.

That sounds wonderful. Happy 40th when it comes. I hope you have the best time.

I turn 40 soon too and I have a fair few things planned.

Usually I'll do something with my sons and some friends but it seems others are planning things for me too which is so kind of them.

I'm actually really looking forward to it x
