Do you really think you’re ugly?!

I see people in here sometimes saying things about being unattractive. I think that this site makes lots of men feel that way but it’s important to remember that no or lack of success on here doesn’t mean you’re ugly. But do people genuinely feel unattractive when they look in the mirror? Why? Where do you think that image of yourself comes from?
Of course we’re all beautiful to someone but are we beautiful to ourselves?!

The only thing that really makes me feel uncomfortable is my skin as no matter what i do and trust me ive tried probably 99% of hacks and methods its not nice. The only thing that works is antibiotics and the docs wont constantly provide them so i have to put up with it. However being on here and going to clubs has genuinely helped to improve my confidence massively so thank you everyone |

I don't think I'm particularly attractive, Steve but amazingly some people think I am.
So the moral of the story is:
There's no accounting for taste
OR
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
OR
You CAN polish a turd |

Honestly, for my age I'm not bad, but I'm no beauty.
Add a bit of makeup and I look a bit better.
Illness has taken a lot out of my face, and add in the double chin. |

There's usually one scale people use and it's either attractive or ugly, for me it's not that simple. There's days I feel good and others where I can literally nit pick every part of me and convince myself I'm the ugliest person to ever exist. Mood plays a big part I guess.
Where does it come from? It's a learnt behaviour from others and society. Our brains are programmed to focus on the negative, people can say 100 compliments to someone and they can go in one ear and out the other. That one little bastard who goes out their way to say something nasty, oh yeah we'll remember that comment for life. Society is also a massive problem, living in a world where people are ridiculed on their appearance. Where the media portray the 'perfect person' and what we all need to do to keep up with it.
I just wish everyone could see theirselves through others eyes just once. Maybe then we will all be a little kinder to ourselves. |

I don't think the site makes men feel ugly. I think their expectations not being met makes them want to find something to blame. Some blame the women for being too picky/stuck up/attention seeking while others will assume that it's their fault and they're unattractive. When the truth usually is that they're one of many small fish in a huge ocean.
I do think that some of the people who say they think they're ugly really do mean it but I also think that a minority just want people to disagree with them |

I'm more critical of my facial attractiveness than my body to be honest and think a bit of it is due how many conversations have gone dead once I've shared a face pic on here. I look at certain aspects of my face and wonder what could put people off but it's something I just have to live with and try not to affect me too much. |

Facially, I don't think I'm ugly. I don't think I'm particularly attractive, but I do have moments when I look at my face and think "OK, not bad". I have moments when I look at my face and think "actually, you look pretty right now".
Neck down, I find myself replusive, not just ugly. But there are a couple of people who I care about who don't seem repulsed by me, so that's nice. |

Ugly is quite a strong word isn't it?
Average, plain, not much to look at, unattractive... Yes all of those things.
I look younger than I am so I guess that's something. I could look worse. But I certainly don't turn heads in the streets and get attention like some women do.
So yes I think I'm unattractive. Ugly... No. Ugly is something horrible. I'm not sure I'm horrible to look at. |

Yes, I'd agree with this. It's a bid to get people to say "oh no you're not" sometimes.
I don't think I'm particularly attractive, I also know I'm not ugly. I wouldn't have photos of me up if I thought I was. When I have certain days (period days) where I feel ugly, I hibernate and wallow a bit. They do pass.
I think I'm okay. I like certain features, less keen on others. I'm nothing special but I'm also not anything horrific. And I'm increasingly comfortable in how I look. |

Yes. And no.
I get compliment, and just last weekend I got a really nice compliment I hadn’t heard for a long time.
But I hadn’t looked into my eyes for a long time because I see sadness and an aged man where the wrinkles and tiredness show. And don’t forget when there’s the regular rejection or no attention from people you like who you want to think and show they think you’re attractive.

Absolutely.
My lack of self confidence came with weight gain, toxic comments as a child lead me to be cautious about my size for years, recently I've suffered with health complications and have gain a couple of dress sizes. I hate it.
Face wise, I've never really felt "pretty", just kind of average I guess |

My perception of myself is always in flux. I know some people find me attractive, I know some people find me ugly, but that doesn't really matter.
Some days I can look and appreciate all the things I like about myself. Some days all I can see are the flaws and imperfections and parts I don't personally find attractive.

Depends on the hormones, time of the month, what else is going on in life, how stressed, tired, pissed off I am.....
Yesterday I felt ok, was happy with how I looked, how I felt etc.
Today however.....
I can't even look at myself in the mirror in underwear n had a wee wobble this morning about the state of my body....
Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
I'm hoping for relatively happy. |

It’s hard isn’t it because it does feel like interactions with others have a huge impact on how we see ourselves. Like, at one point we wouldn’t have seen ourselves as ugly or unattractive and at another point it sticks with us that we might be. Also beauty standards and the people you see in the magazines and on love island etc. none are helpful.
But you’ve got a good outlook. And a good face. |

Not constantly no, but even at my best I think I'm adequate. I have spells of thinking I'm ugly. Mainly stems from bullying as a kid, my parents in particular my dad saying I was fat when I was a size 10, my ex saying my sister was more attractive whereas I was an acquired taste. The spells where I think I'm ugly or I don't recognise my own face in the mirror are less than they were. But far too frequent in reality, but I'm trying to improve it.
I sometimes think it's hard when you're trying to be positive when you're a bit bigger than your mates. And they have their own body insecurities e.g saying they're fat when they're a good few sizes smaller than you. Like what the heck am I then? It's just sometimes hard to be positive sometimes |

It's always about how you feel. And who can define beauty or uglines. As they say, it's all in the eye of the beholder and highly subjective. Not everyone likes the social media 'perfect' body and face looks. In fact lots of people don't. Love handles are certainly underrated |

Some days and pictures I think I look okay, and others not so. In a state of flux is a good way of putting it I guess.
I have a facial paralysis, Bell’s Palsy, I’ve had it for years, and that can make me look much akin to a pirate when I laugh or smile! I love to laugh and smile so I wear my scars and imperfections….I’m sure there’s a song there!
Good bad or indifferent I am what I am….bloody hell anther song!….and take me as I am…I’m stopping now xx
Maybe sone days we just need people to be kind and nicer and say, hey, fancy the pants of you, or just help handsome/gorgeous/beautiful (delete as applicable)
Have a lovely Wednesday people xx |

I have always been curvy, even as a teenager I was a size 14/16. As a bigger girl I think you're conditioned by society and the media into the idea that you're hideously ugly and unloveable because of your body and it can make it very hard to accept yourself. All through my teens and my twenties I was made to feel utterly unattractive and I hated everything about how I looked and retreated into myself. I would never have posted the kind of photos I have on here now, back then. Not in a million years.
Then I hit 30 and decided I don't give a fcuk anymore. I'm not particularly attractive I'm quite plain and 'normal' looking and I've got plenty of meat on my bones but I'm not hideous, and I don't have to retreat into myself and hide myself away anymore. If I'm not your cup of tea, so what. Everyone likes a different kind of brew and I'm put on this earth to please myself, nobody else. |

No, I don't think I'm ugly, relatively good looking I've been told my whole life.
It's rare I, when I was a single male, and we as a couple, would meet anyone as a direct result of being on here as my height will be looked at and then I'm dismissed.
Meeting me in person is a different matter though, as although I know I can come across as a bit of a cunt (sorry for being honest and not blowing smoke up the women's arses) in real life I can mix quite a lot of charm with the honesty/straightforwardness

Yes. I don't particularly like any part of myself but I think my face is revolting. I think it comes from a lot of childhood trauma and bullying. I have never ever seen myself as attractive. I honestly feel like an alien when I'm out and about and wonder what people must think when they look at my face. I don't feel like it's normal at all and it really gets me down but I'm at the point of acceptance now because there is nothing I can do to change it.
I wish I wasn't like this. I know I am fortunate to be healthy and there are people who would give anything to look like me. I don't mean that in a vain way, but things could be worse and I shouldn't complain. |

I'm not a fan of myself in the mirror but that's more weight gain, I don't think I'm ugly but I don't think I'm overly attractive either, I guess I'd see myself as a bit of a plain Jane.

"Yes.
I don't mean that in a vain way, but things could be worse and I shouldn't complain."
Don’t apologise for how you feel, it’s not surprising you feel that way after trauma and bullying. It sticks with you. You’re a beauty x |

I do look at myself and feel ugly, face, body, basically the whole package. Nothing to do with this site though, body dysmorphia has been with me since childhood and it's taken a long time to learn to live with it, though feeling ugly never actually goes away. There's plenty of people who've been attracted to me, and there still is, but I still have problems allowing myself to believe it.
The strange thing is, if I look back at older pics of myself, I do see good looking younger me, even though I didn't see or feel it at the time. That's one of the ways of trying to deal with it, telling myself I will like the way I look now in the future. |

I think I have a decent body especially at my age and I look much younger than I am. My I could control and mould to something decent. My face I just don't like. I grew being told I was ugly and no woman would ever want me, actually my mum still says it. I never felt normal looking. I only look mirrors to shave of something but just look past myself if I can. When I do see a glimpse of myself I grimace. Particularly at the moment because I've been single a while. I have always tried to make my body, personalilty and to be pretty good at the sex my focus to make up for being fugly. I am a super confident person about everything except my face. I don't really care if others think I am anymore because I've accepted it myself, they're just telling me what I already know. |

I think I may polish up alright, to a certain extent. My legs and bum are okayish. But my face just looks unattractive to me, especially when I open my mouth. My teeth are horrid. I have a big gap, and a tooth with a dead root at the front. It's perfectly serviceable, but its greyish, and I just look like I have Halloween joke teeth. You'll never see me smile open mouthed in my pics. |

"
Love this topic. There are tons of guys out there who feel unattractive.

"I have always been curvy, even as a teenager I was a size 14/16.
This really resonated with me.
Mother Nature blessed me with big boobs early on, and Ive always been really self concious of being bigger overall than any of my friends, and therefore less attractive or desireable.
Ive been bigger, and Ive been smaller than I am now, but I feel the most comfortable with my body now. Its definitely more a mind set than anything to do with my current size, and thanks to a few wonderful friends who have made me feel sexy.
Like others, it really varies day-to-day. Sometimes I think, yeah, looking pretty good, but on the whole Im nonplussed about my face, not unattractive, but not beautiful. Maybe cute would describe my face best. So on the whole Id say im ok looking, but not for everyone.

"There's usually one scale people use and it's either attractive or ugly, for me it's not that simple.
Maybe then we will all be a little kinder to ourselves."
No need to nit pick any part of you, your beautiful and reading your comment your beautiful inside too |

No, I don't think I'm ugly. By and large, I like my face, though I can definitely look better or worse on any given day.
There are bits of me I don't like all that much but, where possible, I do what I can to affect those (see ya later love handles...but, oh, there are more crisps over here...ok). Bits I can't change, I live with.
I have definitely felt "uglier" in the past, and didn't like the way I looked as much when I was younger; for me that was around wanting to fit in and look like the friends that all the girls fancied. I had annoyingly handsome friends, but also grew to realise there wasn't a lot I could do about my height or brown skin...and grew to appreciate the latter (less so the former!). |

I hate the word ugly, and I’d never use that word to describe someone’s looks, but I do think people have types, and even sometimes people just aren’t a type. Like a grey man they pass without even a noticeable glance from others,
Do I think I’m unattractive, yes! A little, I’ve scars not big noticeable ones. But I see them even under my beard as I know they’re there. I see my wonky nose from fights, but I’m ok with what I have and don’t strive to change or care to much.
The people I’ve met and speak to think I’m cute and that’s nice to hear from others and I believe that they find me attractive.
|
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big) | |
I just think attraction is very individual.T has always need reassurance as she has never been confident in her looks. It gets more difficult with age.On here I think we need to be kinder and always try very hard not to cause anyone to feel unconfident or uncomfortable about how they look.Looks are skin deep it really is all about who we are inside. |

If my mood is low I generally feel all over unattractive.
If I'm in a normal level mood I think I'm average.
If I'm in a good mood I usually feel attractive for the most part but there are the bits of myself I see in the mirror that I hate regardless of mood.
As said above you could hear 100 compliments but it's always that one nasty one that that burrows it's way into your brain and never leaves.

This is tough for me.
I like me, I have a big heart, I'm kind, I care and I'm a good friend to people.
I don't think I'm anything special infact, I know I'm not when it comes to my looks.
I see all my flaws and do focus on them because often they are all I see.
I compare myself to others a lot and then the negative self talk creeps in and can take over.
When I have a wobble (literally and emotionally) or a confidence crisis it can be really hard for me and I end up forgetting who I am and I fall apart a little bit.
Thankfully I'm OK at picking myself up again and these times are becoming less the older I get.
There are moments where I do feel good about myself, sometimes that's down to others. Sometimes it's often down to other factors. Sometimes I just need a little reassurance. Thankfully my friends are great at this.
I try really hard to not let it stop me having fun, living my life and going for things because I'm rational enough to know that not everyone wants a model type.
So while there are times I feel like the most unattractive woman on the planet, most of the time I can shut those thoughts up enough to just be me.

Depends on how you look at it. Unfortunately this site is full of men most of who are desperate for a leg over despite their standards in real life and hence would fuck any female that offers it! Naturally this empowers those women to feel like they can send whatever they want regardless of how nasty or hurtful it can be.

Didn't see this thread before making mine just now!
What's interesting about this place is in real life, I do pretty damn good with attracting people (but vanilla, boo! )
Here honestly I do so hilariously terribly it's funny 90 percent of the time and horrific the other 10. I don't think I've ever sent a face pic to a positive response. It's baffling and I have no idea why but it is what it is! |

"I don't think the site makes men feel ugly. I think their expectations not being met makes them want to find something to blame. Some blame the women for being too picky/stuck up/attention seeking while others will assume that it's their fault and they're unattractive. When the truth usually is that they're one of many small fish in a huge ocean.
I do think that some of the people who say they think they're ugly really do mean it but I also think that a minority just want people to disagree with them "
It's definitely not their looks that are the issue 99% of time. |

I describe myself as wishy washy, neither here or there … In other words unremarkable and I’ve come to term with that a lifetime ago.

I was lucky that I had a lightening bolt epiphany when I was 19. Up until that age, I was worried that I was going to be hairy, and I was convinced women didn't like hairy guys. Then I realised that some women don't, and some women REALLY like it; it was literally as if someone threw a switch inside my head. You can't be right for everyone. After that I just went through life thinking if someone doesn't fancy you, they're not for you. As for being attractive/ugly, I think some people will think I'm attractive, some will think I'm ugly; I just tend to stick with group one.
Judging from some of the conversations I've had on here, I think some guys take it personally if someone isn't into them, rather than just accepting it, and start to seek justification or hurl abuse. That always says more about their own insecurities I think.
Ultimately it doesn't matter if I think I'm hot - I'm not trying to cop off with myself - it's what my partners/liaisons/connections think that really matters. |

I've never been very confident in how I look. I recently say a picture of myself when I was 20 and thought "I was so pretty, why didn't I realise!". When I told a friend they said "You are so pretty. Still" I don't see what they see all the time but I'm getting there.

If you'd asked me 4 years ago I'd have replied yes I think I am, but that stemmed from years of being told that. Now I'm alright I guess, I'm fortunate I inherited the good genes and don't look my age and I'm a dab hand at makeup so scrub up ok, but there are things I feel someone would find unattractive due to a medical condition I have, I've learned to live with it but it always made for awkward conversations over it.

Honestly, there are most definitely parts of my body that are truly ugly. After 48 years you'd of thought I would learn to love myself as I am, but nope, I hate those ugly parts and I'm very self conscious about them. |

Ugly? No. Definitely not ugly.
Unattractive? No.
Niche and rather limited in who I appeal to, very much so. I'm far from what is generally considered to be universally accepted of what attractive is.
I am the level of attractive that gets "you are a good looking guy" "you are cute" "oh, handsome" etc and while I think they mean it at a base level, it often is painfully obvious it comes with a silent follow up of "but not for me, I'm just being nice"
I'm average, at best. I won't ever stand out and be picked as catching somebody's eye or attention without them knowing my personality prior.
Thankfully I have personality going for me so that helps slightly when given the chance to present it - it gives the illusion I'm a little more attractive. But not attractive enough to draw others in to let my personality work it's magic.
The majority of my life, I've had this scenario. It's been engraved, branded, etched, and stitched in to my being and soul. I won't ever see myself as anything but that. |

Yes I do, almost all the time. Though sites like this one usually won't help |

"I see people in here sometimes saying things about being unattractive.
"
I don't think I'm that ugly. I know that I'm no Knight & shinning armour either. For me personally it's a confidence thing. Also I'm brutal at taking compliments. Even the though of a woman finding/thinking I'm sexy, freaks me out, BIG time. I 100% don't believe & highly unlikely every will either. |
