So this morning havi walked into the gym, I saw a sign near the fron desk that said something like "With Summer round the corner, a gentle reminder for everyone's safety... No Flip Flops, No Crocs, No Sliders"
Now I've seen gym videos on social media with people wearing crocs and personally don't see why they would be worn in the gym but it's not like people are doing squats and deadlifts in them. Do you have an opinion on this? |

"That's definitely a recipe for an injury
To swimming pools sure, but not to work out In"
I imagine they use them to just walk around in as I can't imagine they're worn for a stable base for any serious lifts. |

"I wear flip flops all the time in the gym & barefoot to deadlift , what’s the safety issue exactly ?
You drop a 20 k plate on your toe, unless you have steel toe caps it’s gonna hurt"
Ok, I get your point but you're still a wrong'un for going barefoot in the gym |

If you are barefoot, you are giving and increased risk of fungal foot infections spreading, but thats no different to the showers or changing rooms.
I can't see their justification for this unless some idiots are wearing them on the running machines! |

"Crocs are for life not just for Christmas.
If I got them for Christmas, I'd ask for the receipt
So you could see where they were purchased to go and get a second pair. "
Sure, something like that |

I've seen women in my gym wearing them on the treadmill. |

"Penny's first question before we started dating was 'do you own crocs'. If I had said yes life would have been very different."
What if you had said no and penny owned high heel crocs…. What if she was a croc lover ? That’s such a tricky question to answer as it could have gone either way |

Good old health & safety...
The gym I used to go to was upstairs. The number of people who tripped up the stairs (wearing trainers) was phenomenal. Just imagining the same scenario in crocs makes me wince & you know some numpty will be on the treadmill in flip flops

London/Essex... ish... Romford to be exact |
I think it is more of the grip and stability aspect rather than feet protection element. There is no practical purpose for Crocs in the gym. It's like wearing sunglasses indoors. You think you look cool. You don't. |

I guess they’re not really appropriate for the gym but I’m usually too focussed on my own workout to worry about what others are wearing although I did see someone training in their pyjamas a few weeks ago. |
