I wouldn't be shocked at all. I'd suggest mentioning it in passing, perhaps about someone famous or a general comment.
Some women really hate it and it's not worth losing a friendship over. Also some may Out you.

I just posted a pic on Facebook one day and said I'm queer and I like to crossdress. All my friends were cool about it. I had a lot more attention from women on dating sites after that I guess because of my confidence and ability to embrace my feminine side. All worked out well.

I recently came out as a gay guy and had to divorce my wife, we are still best friends, it was hard, but trust me it’s the right thing, don’t live a lie, it’s who you are, it’s not healthy pretending |

I wouldn’t be shocked. I’d support my friends in their decision. I don’t know your friends OP so I can’t speak for them, only you will have an idea of how they’ll react. Be honest with them and I’d say be prepared to answer some questions that they will probably have. |
