So what's your weirdest brush with nature?
At 3.30am this morning we were woken by our little darlings screaming. A bat had managed to somehow get through a partially open window, evade a drawn blind and was doing laps of their bedroom with the cat in hot pursuit.
Thankfully the bat was caught and released back to the wild using a replica hat from the greatest showman and a hi-vis jacket.
No animals were hurt in this bizarre incident. |

I had a similar experience well in the fact it was a flying creature. We had just moved to where we live now and we have patio doors in our bedroom, lovely warm day so left them open. Came up to find a racing pigeon casually relaxing on my pillow lol |

I was driving late at night, headed onto a major road, and as I start accelerating, a herd of deer bound across all four lanes of this road! I was able to stop and all the deer (maybe 25 or so) headed in their merry way! |

"Glad the bat was OK! Nothing so bizarre for me had a little blue tit come through the window last week unfortunately the cat got to it before me x "
That's a shame, we are big lovers of our winged friends but you can't stop a cat from its primal heritage. |

Big fear of mine being a night worker who gets called to sites all over the North, I can't imagine the carnage that could cause to both you and the deer had you not stopped in time! |

Oh wow. Same happened here last week, a bird got in childs bedroom. All hell broke loose. Hubby was at work, I was freaking out. Daughter keeps a snake in a cage in her room. The bird was going bananas smashing into walls/door/window/furniture, snake was up sniffing, I was screaming down the phone for hubby to get home and do something about it
Hubby came home, set the birdie free unharmed and I had a vodka

Wow, sounds very similar to the chaos that ensued here! Wildlife can be a little bonkers at times! Glad you had vodka nearby and the bird made its way back into the wild with a little assistance! |

Had a similar one driving in Germany a few years ago.
Just replace the deer for wild boar and night to broad daylight.
We were driving through a wooded area and the whole family, mum dad and around 6 little ones, just shot out of one side straight in front of me.
I braked hard and must have only missed them by a couple of metres. They seemed quite unfazed (unlike me) and just carried on and disappeared into the woods on the other side.
I'm sure one of the adults paused for a second and gave me a very nasty look though. |

This really made me laugh
I’ve had a bird in my kitchen once flying around shitting everywhere. Cat brought in a duckling, a rabbit, copious amounts of frogs
Been jumped out at by herds of deer, had a hedgehog bite my toe and once trod on a slug in bare feet |

The kitchen bird incident was while I was on a FaceTime call to my sister, she found it hilarious |

Cats are such murderers. One of neighbours posted on the community Facebook page that there was a mother duck trying to get her ducklings to the river so could we all keep our cats in for the afternoon. The mother duck managed to get all but 2 to the river.
Our cats have brought back shrews and once a baby bird that he kept launching into the air hoping it would fly. |

Cats are creatures of nature, thankfully ours has lost his prey drive as he has gotten older and only attacks if something strays to close, his hunting days are over. |

Certainly helped make the social memorable, fingers crossed it led to further memorable moments! |

Went to an animal park once where you could go into the penguin enclosure
I accidentally stood on one and it "bit" me, they have spikes in their mouth to allow them to grip onto fish. I had a pretty impressive wound on my leg
Concern for me was that there were little children in there too and one could easily have got a child in the face |

When I was in my early teens and was on my way back from a birthday disco, I and some others got roped in to helping a farmer whose farm was at the top of our hill round up a pig that had escaped his farm.
Was bloody hard work. It did NOT want to be caught. . |

I happened across a bat in the toilets at work. Managed to catch it and release it. |

Tame blackbird (she visits for food most days) landed on outside ledge of my home office. Flapping it's wings, seemed quite fretful. Went outside and one of her fledglings was inside greenhouse and could not work out how to exit. All sorted and I now ensure door and window to greenhouse are open as wide as possible in warm weather. |

"What's that Blackie? Little Timmy is trapped in the greenhouse and you need me to rescue him? I'll be right there..." Didnt know blackbirds were so intelligent lol |

I had a beautiful encounter with a seahorse on a beach in Miami. It was stranded there so I picked it up and popped it back into the water. It stayed there for a short while just facing me and then swam off. If that doesn’t give you a warm fuzzy, nothing will |

I (GC) was hiking on Owl's Head Mountain in Vermont, and crashed overnight in one of the lean-to shelters on the trail. Woke up during the night because I heard a snuffling sound; looked over at my rucksack and there was a black bear poking around at it. It prowled around for about thirty seconds before wandering off. Pretty bloody scary stuff! |

A starling once fell down the soil pipe. I could hear it but couldn’t get the pipe apart so I flushed the loo and lifted the inspection cover in the garden. I was greeted by a bedraggled and very cross starling who flew into a tree and spent a long time preening itself.I fitted a cage to the top of the pipe the following day. |

A sodding pheasant of all things.
I was driving the wagon then and the damn thing flew straight at the vehicle.
all I could think of was its going straight through the windscreen.
I hit it head on and caused some damage as well to the vehicle but it didnt come through the windscreen.
Ex and daughter have been interesting with spiders the screams, bangs as they fly out of places.
Just for a little tiny spider. |

I’ve had a pigeon in the house, the bastard shat everywhere. Threw a sheet over it and released it. When I was still living at home I woke up once with a cat on my pillow, no idea who’s it was, that was quite a shock. |

We've had a bat - flew in through the chimney. Tricky getting it out of the living room.
We have house martins all about the house too. Drives the dog nuts.
Probably most exciting brush with nature in a house was stepping out of the shower and almost stepping onto a very large tarantula (not in this country of course). That was tricky to catch too! |
