Absolutely love finding Allies who are genuinely interested and support the community. It makes me happy to know that ideas are changing for the better as well as challenging the Homophobia and Transphobia that is still quite common
However, in my personal experience there are a lot who support on or around the parades but as soon as July comes they will stop and act like they dont want anything to do with it. Mainly use it as an excuse to party snd drink. |

Genuine support is quite different than a month of being patronised. Some “allies” seem to be less supportive when it actually means doing something too.
But genuine allies are always welcome  |

Without allies you wouldn’t get to acceptance, so hopefully both sides see the worth in each other. Those allies who later on have a relative or friend who comes out as LGBT etc… will embrace that person and not shun them. So for me it’s a win/ win situation.
I have straight friends who know I’m bisexual and crossdress, now in middle age they’re more accepting than maybe they would have been back when we were teenagers. The LGBT community and their allies have helped create that new environment.
