I watched two episodes and wrote it off. what happens in our own head very rarely matches the film adaptations "I'm aware of that. I am happy with certain narrative decisions to make a film or TV series flow better in a visual medium. However wholesale disregard of the spirit and flavour of the written material in order to present a shallow sword-slinging action show is more than I'm prepared to stomach. Peter Jackson took big liberties with parts of the story for his movies, but I was happy because he preserved the underlying spirit and feel of the books, to a great degree. Amazon has not done that. | |||

The Rings of Power? What utter dross! I've been a Tolkien fan since I read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings when I was 11. I've read The Silmarillion and all of the Christopher Tolkien annotated histories - I loathe what Amazon has done with the Akâllabeth! I watched two episodes and wrote it off. what happens in our own head very rarely matches the film adaptations
I'm aware of that. I am happy with certain narrative decisions to make a film or TV series flow better in a visual medium. However wholesale disregard of the spirit and flavour of the written material in order to present a shallow sword-slinging action show is more than I'm prepared to stomach. Peter Jackson took big liberties with parts of the story for his movies, but I was happy because he preserved the underlying spirit and feel of the books, to a great degree. Amazon has not done that.
