I have been watching a documentary on BBC called Once upon a time in Northern Ireland, where they are talking to those on both sides who grew up during the troubles.
It reminded me of when I first moved over to the UK and work colleagues were surprised I could have friends from Northern Ireland. They assumed everyone from the Republic hated everyone from the north and vice versa.
Have you ever had misconceptions about situations or events? |

I’m a Scouser and have worked all over the UK and as soon as I open my mouth, the first thing people do is make a joke about robbing cars
The areas I’ve worked probably have more crime or problem areas than Liverpool but peoples misconceptions mean they revert to type.
It does not bother me…my accent has started many conversations and I’m proud of my heritage.
