Similar events have reinforced the attitude I already had. Two friends died of cancer last year one at 34 with a 3 year old son and I vowed to try and eenjoy my life as much as possible by finding pleasure in small things every day,the sun shining, a friend smiling as well as the bigger things. |

5 years ago I was overweight drinking too much eating crap and working 7 days a week 12/14 hours a day. Then one afternoon I collapsed at work with chest pains. Luckily It was not a heart attack just me body telling me enough was enough. When I was in A&E with wires and monitors connected to me promised myself if I got away with this then I would change my lifestyle.
Now I am four stone lighter and can run a half marathon in 2 hours 15mins and feel so much better and healthier in myself.
Oh and I changed my job too

I've had loads of people I know die over the years and each time it makes me want to make the most of what I have. Oddly enough, I end up throwing material belongings away or redecorate or make changes in some way.
Death is natures way of reminding us of Life. |

The nature of my job means that I see the shitiest side of life and more pertinently death from time to time.
Never forget how fragile life is, how special it is and most of all how short it can be. |

You never know what life has to throw at you, but what i have learnt recently, the things that are important in life and the things that are not. I feel like the old fiesty me has left and a very controlled mellow peron has taken the place. However, it could be because im still raw.
One minute everything is great in your life then in a split second everything can change, so make the most of every moment that you can |

My wife ran off with a Turk 3 years ago after our holiday there, leaving me and our two kids, that made me think what went wrong, my mum died suddenly last June and hit us all, my gran got rushed to hospital Christmas Day and we've been told its just a matter of time.
Has it made me stop and think, yep, have I changed, only outwards round the waist, I now take everyday as it comes. |
