Yes but also no, going on my own to very first one was daunting but ok after some Dutch courage. Going with my fwb was a lot easier as people approached us a lot.
They're a really good way to meet people and I do like socialising.
Not been to one for ages though as it's a couple of hundred minimum with travel, hotel and drinks and food |

I greatly enjoyed them when I was single and been to a few as a couple. Great for networking in general.
Always interesting to meet the person behind the profile. Surprises could cut both ways, though generally towards mostly positive. |

We used to really enjoy them. The Sussex social was a favourite of ours. We don't attend them any more because being realistic and brutally honest with ourselves we are out of so many age ranges that we'd probably feel slightly awkward.
This is not fishing for people to tell us we're not |

Up the brum, run by untrepid explorers, is quite simply the best social event in the world.
The events are delivered with meticulous planning, the venues are stellar, and the atmosphere is so down to earth and welcoming.
I absolutely love them. |

We love them we don’t meet new people on here anymore it just don’t work for us .We are heading to one tonight ..
Our favourite is probably the Newport social we get to see people we haven’t seen for a long time and just have a great night. |

Yeah that does seem to be one reason I might not go to some is the cost to stay. Good reason to get a group together for an air BnB to make it cheaper though. Probably other reasons to get a group together too. |

I do. It's a good excuse to let my hair down, wear mascara and talk to people. I enjoy them - I've been to a few now. Love UpTheBrum so much, planning on going to one in Manchester this weekend which I'm very excited about!
They can be expensive. I also know not everyone has the best experience and sometimes I think we could all be a bit friendlier/put ourselves out there a bit more. Last social I went to, fuelled by tequila and kisses from the woman I went with, I just went over and started chatting to people on their own. |

I love a good social.
I used to attend a monthly munch which was more like a kinky weatherspoons supper club (no pun intended) but sadly it didn't restart after the pandemic.
From what I've seen though, they take a lot of organising. |

2016 MLS It was off the cuff, and EVERYONE turned up. Also I think there was another Christmas one too… mistletoe helps.
Loved meeting so many people, and being amongst so many people with the same type of vibe. And I’d recommend it to anyone who says they don’t get to meet many people from Fab.
Just find a local social or travel.
There’s one this Saturday. Come along. |

I love group socials (most of my verifications ar from there), it was daunting as first but I love how you can approach women and couples and just have chat with them where they don't think you have an ulterior motives because you're a single guy.
Also, because I know nothing is going to happen, I just end up feelinmore confident in talking to people and just acting like a normal human being |

Yup, and not just someone we know vaguely... No, it's friends we've known for over 14 years. Who turn out to have a swinging podcast with thousands of listeners. The whole thing was surreal! I can message you the link to the episode they recorded about it as it was as much a shock for them as us!

I attended an UpTheBrum Social at the start of my 'swinging journey'. It was their Kissmas event last December. A friend told me about it and I wasn't too sure about it, I felt super nervous, but I am so glad I bit the bullet and went! I've been to 3 of their socials now and have made some of the best friends! There are some incredible people that regularly attend and also lots of new faces, every time. I've booked on to the next two summer socials, and I can't wait for them, always such a great night. The hosts are wonderful, too! Even though I've relocated and now live in Buckingham, I still keep coming back up for the events. Can't recommend highly enough. If you're considering it, just do it. Of you're not considering it...then you should be haha |

It's not that the prospect for meets isn't there, that's not the main reason we used to go but of course if the opportunity arose to make plans for future dates we took it. When you're in a room where you're 10/20/30 years older than everyone else it can feel awkward... that's all on us of course |

For swingers ones, I've only been to the MLS and the Manchester Social. I love them. It can be scary at first but once you've been a few times you know a few people and that makes it easier to meet more people the next time. I also loved Spurs' pre social. The ice breaker was a great way to get us all chatting. |

The MLS on Saturday will be my first ever social. I’m nervous but not in a bad way, I think it will be fun and I know I’ll enjoy meeting people with whom I have a laugh in the forum.
I’m nervous about being around so many people because I'm not good in big crowds, but it’s something I’ve wanted to make myself do for ages.
Fab is a largely social club for me these days, but if I meet someone I like who likes me as well….. |

So, a serious answer about socials, been to a few n9w Lichvegas and Up The brum. They have opened up a whole new side to fab for me, as well as introducing me to clubs going with UTB at the irganised club night the night before the social, as post social with LV.
Would this ever have happened I doubt it..
They've allowed me to connect with people, across the board who odds are I would never have connected with.
Tbf I do better in person...as I'm aware I more that likely cum across as a complete cunt on the forums. In person this negates that, as intonation is present, so people see that I'm not such a cunt....hey ho, look forward to seeing thise I've made friends with and making new friends

"We've been to a few now, Manchester and Leeds I enjoy the Leeds one, Manchester was our 1st though so was a little nervous.
Mrs
I was at the Manchester one in April. I was also completely new. It kicked off my whole swinging journey. I didn't speak to as many people as I wish I had though. Next one I will. I am going to the other Manchester one this weekend too. I will also look up Leeds thank you!
We've booked the Leeds Gothic theme one in Oct I can't wait, I'm gutted we can't make Woody's Manchester social.
Have a great time.
Mrs x"
Thank you! I am going to go look up this Leeds gothic one. That sounds fascinating. |

The socials I’ve been to range from up north in Newcastle to down south at Heathrow. I’ve travelled a lot of the country to attend socials. My favourite will always be the Manchester one and I always make a weekend of it as I love Spurs pre social on the Friday.
Socials coming up in the next few months are York, Central North London and Manchester |

You were the first person I properly spoke to at my first ever social. And you have been at every social I have ever been to. Which admittedly is only two but still. Thank you JoeBeans you totally made me feel welcome. |

J
Oh no. Did you get the life cross over you never wanted?
Yup, and not just someone we know vaguely... No, it's friends we've known for over 14 years. Who turn out to have a swinging podcast with thousands of listeners. The whole thing was surreal! I can message you the link to the episode they recorded about it as it was as much a shock for them as us!

"I've been to lots, most were ok, some were dreadful but they meant i could be with my other half, i wasn't there to meet other people.
The last one i went to was a cake social and it was great
I am sorry. A cake social. Swingers. And. Cake? Tell me more.
It was great, it was organised by the very lovely peacecore, he also made most of the cakes, 2 other guys also bought cakes with them. It was aimed at the mids chatroom crowd and was held in club amigos.
A wonderful afternoon "
That really does sound amazing. If I ever come I will make some scottish tablet. It dissolves beautifully on the tongue. |

We’ve been to many over the years and largely enjoyed them.
Our favourites were the old mls ones by miss red and sexy brunette, good times, great memories |

I'd love to go to one, but the thought sends my anxiety off the scale
I don't have social anxiety as such, it is more a 'fear' of being in crowded spaces
I become overwhelmed very quickly |

We’ve been to quite a few, on here and another site.
Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle, Lincoln, Nottingham.
The old MLS ones were the best but heard great things about Up The Brum - want to attend that one this year.
They are a fantastic way to meet new people and be surprised by what people actually look like. We’ve made quite a few connections from them.

"I've been to two and very clique.
Try Up the brum very friendly and welcoming in my experience
Absolutely this!"
That reminds me - The Clique have several outstanding socials organised. All very hush hush and exclusive. If you’re thinking “I wonder if I’ll get an invite?”, you already know the answer.
PS The Clique do not exist and they are not having socials. Because they can’t. Because they don’t exist. |

Socials are a really important and transformative part of the swinging experience. If you haven't been to one you really need to.
That said, despite the real efforts by the organisers, I have found several quite frustrating. The bigger socials are just too busy. I have gone with the intention of saying hello to specific people and just cannot find them.
The second frustration is the noise. Socials tend to be held in pubs with background music / TVs. A misspent youth means my hearing is shot and the background noise drowns out the conversation.
I would love a smaller social somewhere quiet, where you could really talk to people. A sapio-social! |

Thank you so much for every one that commented. They have given me some great ideas.
Sorry I haven't managed to reply to all the comments so far.
I have only been to two socials and going to one on Saturday but I highly recommend them for breaking into the scene a bit more. I hope to go to more.
Please keep commenting on the group socials you love and why and happy fabbing for the rest of the night. |

Another hell yeah from us! We’ve been to 4 different group socials and had brilliant nights at every one of them.
We’re regulars at Up the Brum and Lichvegas and have met some wonderful people whom we have gone on to make friends with, and have fun with (vanilla fun AND the naughty sort!).
If you enjoy meeting new people, love talking about s*x (I mouthed that like Miranda), and get a thrill from flirting outrageously, then I’d recommend to anybody!!

We’ve both been to a fair few. Mine have ranged from London to Wales. I used to organise one too with a fem friend a few years ago. I liked the Newport one particularly but not been for a long while. Want to try the new filth club social in Swansea.
They’re a great way to break the ice and meet lots of new people.

Been to quite a few now, picking a favorite is hard, as ive had a great time at all of them, but if pressed it's either my 1st STP or 1st MLS. Met some wonderful people at both who have become longtime friends.
The night I did both MLS and Heathrow was brilliant in a completely bonkers way as well.
Northampton is next one I need to go to that I haven't attended before. |

I've been to a few. They have been okay. Some better than others. Had a lot of agro at one from a guy in a couple who didn't understand the word no. But to be fair the organiser when I told them after was very good about it.
Others I have been to have been good enough nights with good craic and meeting and chatting to people I person that I knew from being on here. And then again others have been very non inclusive and it was very hard to get chatting to people there. And while it doesn't help that I'm quite shy you get the vibe when people are in their own circles and don't want to chat to anyone outside of those.
I honestly am not overly bothered about going to them anymore and I can see why people find they aren't for them despite being told on here that it's the way to get a foot in the door of fab and meets. |

Favourite ever?
The one we organised at Xtasia back in 2014 (I think - it's been a while! ).
We'd love to go to the UTB one but always clashes with work, would like to get up to the Manchester one but it's too far away and we'd gladly go to the Bristol one but they don't let single guys in, so much as it would be great chatting to local couples they're not our current target audience.
But yep - group socials are great fun, as are any social meet. It doesn't have to be the usual drink/coffee chat in a bar either. We had a great impromptu social today just walking dogs.
