Yeah this makes me feel old,the news stories actually meant something back in the day when you was a young child,a lot of things happened in the 80's,these days I hardly bother with the news
To answer op's question I was a 10 year old watching it at home |

I was a rebellious 16 year old behind the other side of Iron Curtain when it actually happened, crossing the border freely just a year later for my first student exchange in Amsterdam.
Something that I will never forget. |

I feel so old.
I was due to be meeting friends in a pub. None of us poor students had phones but I just had to stay home and watch this unfolding.
When I next saw my friends I started to apologise but only one out of the five of us had not stayed home.
A truly extraordinary day in a momentous year (Hillsborough, Tian'anmen, Berlin and finally the slow hand clap in Romania which quickly led to the fall of Ceau?escu)
I still have about a dozen newspapers from that year. I'm such a nerd ![](/icons/s/cool.gif) |
