I am still at heart a rock chick. I know that at nearly 50 I'd look ridiculous dressing how I used to so I've updated a bit and I dress to allow for the fact I no longer have my late teens/ early 20s body/ looks sadly. |

I was post skinhead, crombies....prince of Wales check trousers, tassel loafers, Fred Perry's and Ben Sherman's.
Was heavily into Motown and still am, and have one of the biggest collections of old Motown vinyl in the country, including over 40 "white labels" destined originally designated for radio stations.
I've been to Detroit, been to Hitsville USA West Grand Boulevard several times and have met and interviewed many Motown greats including the founder Berry Gordy.
Motown nerd.....

I loved the way you could spot a kindred spirit by the style they dressed or the band T-shirts they wore. I think those days are gone now. You don’t get cohesive youth tribes the way you used to. Kids today have broader tastes and cross genres easily.
I used to get hugs from complete strangers in the street for being into the same band they were.
I remember being in a student club, halfway through a conversation with one of my flatmates, and spotting a girl in a Compulsion shirt across the venue. “Hang on Dougie, I’ve just fallen in love with a T-shirt. I’ll catch you later.” I made my way across the club to talk to the girl, took her to bed later that night, and we were together for a few months. Just because she went out that night in a T-shirt that said ‘Josephmary sings like a mockingbird’. |

Punk for me got into the music first at 11.. wore the clothes as soon as I could afford to buy em.. I'm still doing it.. I'm still clinging onto my youth like a mountaineer clinging onto a crumbling rock face...my looks a bit tamer now but I still stand out..and I've also incorporated the look into my trannie side as well.. |

I'm still mortified."

I'm still waking in the night screaming over memories of an orange satin shirt dress worn with lace gloves |

I’ve literally never had a ‘look’.
When I was young my mum was a tight c**t and only used to get me clothes from markets or second hand shops/hand-me-downs. It was horrible. We were not poor at all, she just wouldn’t spend money. I used to avoid going to parties or whatever because my clothes were so tragic.
By the time I’d grown up and got my own disposable income, I was well past following a particular look. I’ve always been a bit of a classic dresser - shirts and jeans/chinos.
Luckily I’m sexy af and can make it work |

GONE/TIMEOUT (No DMs please) |
Too late to be proper punk, born too soon to be emo.
I think I was a kinda indie-grunge wannabe-sk8rgirl type thing?
I've not changed on the inside...but can't get away with wearing the skinny jeans nor baggy trews at my age

I was a mid-’90s alternative/indie kid. Denims or Dickies. A pair of Vans. Band T-shirts over long-sleeved T-shirts. Bleached blonde hair that later ended up spiked and brightly coloured as I got into skateboarding and punk rock.
But I came from the countryside, and small-town Yorkshire, so all that stood out like a sore thumb until I got myself out of there and into art school. |

I was an emo teen.
Yep one of those. Loved the music. I was obsessed with My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional and P!ATD.
Slightly too tight band t-shirts. Studded belts. Artfully ripped skinny jeans. Massive fringe. Hair tied up using a chopstick. Thick eyeliner. Fake lip ring. Vans.c
I'd lurk in libraries, poring over Dracula and Wuthering Heights, seeking solace in the brutal coldness of far off lands, the tortured romantic twin flames doomed to never truly be together.
It wasn't a music choice. It wasn't a fashion choice.
It was everything.
And I'm so fucking glad I'm over my emo self. |

You look rather good naked or in a dressing gown though tbf .
Not sure if this is just for goths and rockers, but I was a typical 90s RnB/Hip Hop head to the point I wore a shiny PVC suit to my prom thinking i was in a Puff Daddy video. Luckily my dress sense has evolved since that point. |

I am a rocker/metalhead... I wore the tight jeans and biker leather in my teens... Attempted conformity in my 20s but once my 30s hit I found my own groove... Still into the music but look wise, I just wear what I like, it's rarely fashionable though, especially these days... I fucking hate beige and shapeless |

Hmmmmm. I was alt, but not really deep into any one subculture. I enjoyed and still enjoy music from a wide range of genres but did go pretty Goth/emo for a while but never 100%. I always hung around with people from lots of different subcultures and none, also.
I now probably dress like a mid 30s mother who has to tailor fashion choices for wheelchairing. Whatever that is. My music tastes haven't changed though. |

Solair are better than today's DrMartens unless they still do that ridiculously over priced made in England line. They are really well made. |

Punk for me, I used to love the clothes, excitement and raw music. Nowadays I still go and see those bands when they're touring, still love the music but don't bother with the clothes anymore. |

I was a twink and massive Madonna and Kylie fan, and wore crop tops and short shorts everywhere! And knee high boots - still
Love Kylie and Madonna but if I dressed like a twink now I’d be arrested for indecent exposure lol |
