I settled on Nikolai Tesla, but considered Darwin too.

Sir Frank Whittle. I would love to know his thoughts on the British governments decision just to hand over "his" invention of the jet engine to the Americans for nothing. Especially as he had spent most of the 1930's trying and failing to get British government support for jet engine development.
