And if so...

Do you ever wish you weren't?

Do you find it tiring / tiresome?

Do you wish you could just let go?

Yes, yes and yes.

I'm better at going with the flow than I used to be. The old instincts flare up at times of stress, though.

What about you, OP?

Yes, if I stopped everything would fall apart.

Yes, I wish I didn't have to be in charge, but historically that doesn't solve anything!

Dreadful for it

I think it's years of management roles that now pervade my sub concious

I have managed a transition work wise, but it seems harder to shake domestically

It depends on the situation.

Sometimes I feel comfortable with those around me and trust them to do the job correctly or work as part of a team.

Other times when they demonstrate a complete inability to tie their own shoelaces without instruction I know I need to be in control.

I've always been a hands on manager which those above me have struggled to understand.

It hasn't always been that way because I don't trust my staff to do it themselves but is often down to staffing levels.

I've been told in the past I needed to delegate more which I have no problem doing except when there aren't enough staff to carry out the work and I have to fill the gaps.

I'm happy for others to take control as long as they do as I say.

In every day life, I like to be in control. Which is why I enjoy giving her control in the bedroom occasionally

I think work wise we sound very similar, but I took the decision 3-4 years back to step off the pedal and shed professional responsibility

I now work for a bigger company and for people with less experience and competence than me

It is hard work some days but, by far and large, I have managed to not manage them (at least not obviously )

Depends in which sense. I’m a Senior Manager, but very hands on, I don’t believe in asking someone to do something I don’t do myself (others may not agree). I like to see what’s happening, I like to know what my team are dealing with and controlling it from “the floor” so to speak.

In the bedroom, T has full control, to an extent, but obviously knows my limits well.

When I’m driving at maximum motorway speeds ( 70 mph honestly) , it’s good to think I’m in complete control.

For a long time my core mantra has been "You can't stop what's coming" long before that movie stole it, I still beat myself up, more for what I didn't do, or should have done, but general nah I'm just floating along.

Nope.

I do need to be in control. I don't ever wish I wasn't. It is tiresome. I don't wish I could let it go.

Mostly I don't have a choice and haven't for a long time. If I stop, it all falls apart. Is it tiring? Yes, it's exhausting. I have a safety net now that I wasn't used to having, it took me a long time to get used to that and use it. Timed correctly, I can now stop and hand over control. Sometimes that's sexually, other times that is daily life. We all need to rest every now and then.
