"I admit it, Davos is one the events I would like to attend professionally at some point. But, what purpose does it really serve?"
I'm in the same boat as you. A client of mine has gone so I'll find out when they return. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
"what is it?"
Sorry, went to have dinner.
It's a gathering of thousands of world leaders, thinkers, business people, scientists, doctors, charities and so on. They meet and discuss the world economy. Some deals might be made there. Off the record conversations almost certainly happen. It costs a fortune. |

Sitting in an office making decisions without ever physically meeting the people you do business with, or may do business with is isolationist and it is human nature to form opinions in isolation that only reflect one's own limited view. Summits of like minded people enable wider implications to be considered and associations formed that allow a much wider field of view in one's decision making process. And it's nice and warm in Davos. |

"Stephanie Flanders got the Davos gig and Nick Robinson in Downing Street."
That's 'cos Davos is 'economic' rather than 'political'.
"Davos feeling nervous on the Cameron announcement."
Davos feeling uninterested in Cameron's announcement. His speech this am was poorly attended and nobody asked any questions at the end. |

I haven't had a chance to catch up yet. I wonder who they went to see instead of Cameron?
Stephanomics is my favourite slot. |
