Newcastle and Gateshead

two wise lessons I have learnt today..

1) never laugh as someone when the snow falls off the roof right in front of their windscreen wipers (we were stuck in traffic on a slope at the time.. no danger).. because when it happens to you two minutes later... no so funny then!!

2) never try and do a 3 point turn in a icy/snow car park.... result... beached car... and 4 people having to help push me out....... looking back on it... incredibly stoopid!!!

so what have you learnt today

It didn't warm up enough for the snow to slide off in one avalanche from my roof. It's always a bit of a scary thrill when it does it - what a noise.

I always clear my roof of snow when I'm driving to stop it from flying off the roof into someone else's windscreen, causing them to crash

Bunkies winter driving tips

1. Clear all snow off car before driving...including bonnet and roof

2. Do not use wipers to clear windscreen excessive snow scrape snow off first ..your wipers are not designed to take the extra strain and may damage cog on the wiper arm also blade may be frozen to screen resulting in damaging either cog on wiper arm or the blades themselves

3. Ensure you clear all snow from front and rear of car including ALL lights

Youd be amazed at how many people drive with snow covered cars with only a portion of their windscreen cleared....very very dangerous

actually have to say in the defence of "micra driver" the highlight of my day was watching in a sidestreet an audi "4x4" struggling to get up a hill... then watching it slowly sliding backwards.....

I have learnt that if you have no kids and live a couple of miles from work (albeit I don't drive so rely on the bus), that I will not get sent home early, will be expected to get to work on time and do the work of those who get to leave early don't do.

pfft we had to sit in our coats when they had no coal for the boiler at school

Just had a really stupid moment, went to work and my laptop turned itself off and wouldn't go back on. Mass panic as I was on fab at the time and wasn't sure PC world would be discreet about a message about using a wand on me!

So I decided to come home and try to see if plugging it in helped, and guess what it did! Battery had died and I hadn't noticed... Durr!

That's why you should always carry a shovel in the car in this weather...

luckily I did the same outside the driveway so fetched mine from the garage-it lives in the car now!

"that someone I thought was really really sensible had a mad moment like me too ............... lol "

Twas not a mad moment. Was simply briefly forgetful.

It did lead to me sitting on the floor swearing at length then a weekend of discomfort, waking up in a puddle of goop and a trip to the hospital through heavy snow.

But it was just a split second of forgetting...
