They always get a quid. Unless it’s domino’s. They get paid a decent wage and I’m not tipping when I’ve had to get a mortgage on a pizza.

I genuinely don’t know how it works cause I never use their services. I’m sat in Subway now and the queue for these delivery people is bigger than the queue from folk who have just walked in. It must be big business, I just don’t know how it works???

I feel bad if I don’t. The guy who delivers for our local Chinese hands the food over then pockets the change and says bye without even asking

little house on the praire

I've never used those companies but if I have a take away I try and have the right money plus about £1.50. There only delivering the food. The odd time I've ordered from dominos I don't give a tip as I pay on my card

Lifes departure lounge NN9 Northamptonshire East not West MidlandsMidlands

I have to admit that I have never had any food delivered to my house.

I do however give tips for other services I receive such as Taxi drivers, Hairdresser, Grass cutter, Window cleaner. et al.

Flagrante

They charge a delivery fee, so they have already been paid, in my view?

Search on YouTube there are a couple of delivery drivers who tell you how it works and how much they get for a few hours work.

They can make decent money

no because I don't use them and if it ever happened no I generally don't tip.also I don't understand why people use them food cold and costs more than just ordering direct from takeaway.

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

Rex, even if you just give them the tip it is considered bad form. Unless they've asked for it.

You're welcome

The dot in the i

If they’re nice and go above and beyond sure, that’s what tips are for but I’ve had some shout at me so no, I won’t tip for the sake of it, they’re paid already and my bill has enough added extras on top, delivery plus service charges ect

This is 2023 UK, not America where they don’t pay staff so I understand why staff demand tips even though they shouldn’t be living on them, they should be paid fairly

Tips are a show of appreciation for a job extra well done. Sorry if that’s hard faced but fed up of the squeeze being put on the customer. Business that can’t afford to pay a fair wage should fold and let better designers take that place in the market
