Have you ever fallen asleep on a Train ?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I used to do it all the time when I had a long commute. I ended up with a bus buddy. We used to sit together every day and lean on each other to have a nap. Sometimes she would wake me up at the other end, other times I’d wake her up. This was a good system except for the times when we *both* fell asleep … |

"Not fallen asleep but I did once get on an out of service train in Berlin (by mistake) and ended up sat in a darkened carriage in a tunnel for a bit
Were you inebriated haha ?"
Nope, perfectly sober
I just don't really understand German - either on the signs on the platform, or when it is being yelled at me by the fucked off driver who discovered me |

No, but i did once get on the wrong train after my mate suggested we have a quick after work beer...which kind of escalated a bit.
So almost ended up in London, pissed up, late on a Friday evening by accident |

Think i had a long and slightly stressy journey to Coventry, then had to find a train back to Brum and hope the ticket inspector didn't appear as it was outside by travel card zone...then it was back to square one of being still pissed and looking for the right train in the joy that is New St Station- think it took me 3 hours to get home |

At least i got home that night, had another mate suggest the same post work quick beer one sunny Thursday- that ended up with us both in a club on Broad Street at 1am and me having to pretty much carry him to a taxi, try and remember where he lived (i'd only been there once, he'd recently moved and he was too pissed to remember his new address), i then had to carry him to bed, deposit him face down on the mattress and sleep on his 2 seater sofa all night.
I then had to go to work in the same clothes i'd been wearing since the previous morning, no shower as we both overslept and spend the day with us both trying to do the same job with a hangover from hell |

Next time travel ¹st class like me. You're looked after, waited upon, given refreshments and therefore suppressed from falling asleep. |

Once. Middle of the countryside, village station. Dogs barking from across the gardens adjacent to the tracks. Creepy people, no toilet and no waiting room open. Around half ten in the night. And a good 45 min wait for a return train. Fun!

I went out for a night in Chester and lived 30 mins train ride away. I got the last train home and fell asleep and went round Liverpool and the last stop was West Kirby which was the same distance away from Chester to my house.
Ended up having to pay £25 in a taxi home, which I could have done from Chester and just stayed out

"How?! How can anyone actually sleep on a train?! I need complete silence, darkness and to be laying flat! "
I find train noise pretty soothing. Only some co passengers can wake me up if loud but otherwise its like a white noise to me but I lived near train tracks half of my life.

Plenty of experience of falling asleep on the last train or bus home after a night out can offer a couple of tips.
If on the bus ask the driver to shout you at your stop.
If on the train set an alarm for a few minutes before your stop and turn up the volume
Both simple but effective |

When I was a naive teenager and returning from my college interview, at Euston station I looked for my return train home, and chose the next train, which had all Al the stops listed on it, ending with ‘Blackpool, North’. So I jumped on that.
I didn’t realise ‘Blackpool North’ was an actual station, and the train terminated there. I can laugh about it now….. |

, sounds like a good night was had mate!
My worst 1 was after a heavy night out. Heading to work, I got to the Piccadilly line at Finsbury Park and was meant to get off at Leicester Square, but woke up in Uxbridge .
It's safe to say I was rather late for work. |

I can fall asleep within minutes on most methods of public transport. Something about being in motion, the slight rocking, vibrations, and not having anything to actively be doing. |
