Having a HEATED DEBATE here.
I think that bacon has no place on a burger. The burger is about the beef, and the cheese and the salad and relish. Adding bacon is gilding the lily. The culinary equivalent of a Halfords body kit on a classic Aston Martin. My friends disagree.
What say you? |

I’m with your friends on this one. I love crispy bacon on burgers. |

Wonders how people feel about popping an egg on them? Brake one into a cake ring, give it a swirl so it was half mixed, put a lid on it for a min or two then flip it over. With bacon, it just about fits into the mush. |

Bacon is added because it brings a salty/smoky element, which is another way of saying you made a crap burger that doesn’t have enough flavour or seasoning of it’s own.
Leave the bacon out, but add Gerkins for the acid and the crunch which give contrast, lifting and accentuating the burger’s character.

Don't have them often but just on it's own just perfectly seasoned and possibly some beef tomatoes for extra fresheners and perhaps a tiny bit of very light mustard at most. And the bun needs to be nicely toasted, almost crunchy. |

"If you're going to add bacon why not stick in a sausage, mushrooms and beans.
Go the whole hog.
Sausage...yes, beans...yes. mushrooms? Why would you eat fungus? "

Personally love bacon on a burger.
Local takeaway does a farmhouse burger it has bacon, fried onion, fried egg, tomato, lettuce, cheese and sauce
I do love a well cooked ,well seasoned burger without the frilly bits aswell .
Gimme chunky chips and coleslaw (as MsWyld said above) with it for the win
