Human emotions are hard work, no? One minute we’re up there, then down there, we can be nervous, scared and excited all at once.

How good are you at regulating your emotions? Or do they run havoc with your life?

I'm a clam up lock it all away type which isn't the best but sometimes nothing else needs doing.

They don't run havoc with my life but I do feel things keenly. Intensely. I think I either feel things in that intense manner or I don't.

I did really dislike that part of me, wishing I could switch it off and be less, well me.

But now I'm at a stage where I like me and how I am. I'm always going to be a high/low energy person. I'll always feel things a bit too sharply. Having experienced utter numbness, I'd rather not go back there.

So while emotions don't wreak havoc in my life, I'm happy embracing my passionate, feeling self.

I roll with mine, but I try to avoid things that will hit me deep in the heart and chest.

I don't like feeling extremely sad to the point I cry.

I'm a very emotional person. I feel deeply. Good or bad. I'm OK with that.

Leeds (Home) / Sheffield (Work)

In such a hectic world people don’t find time to reflect, processes, and regulate themselves. Just think how many different messages you can receive at any given time, all on your mobile phone which once upon a time would need to be communicated in person or via a letter. Now you can hear about a bereavement, someone getting married, someone losing their job, and someone going on a fantastic holiday, all in the space of 60 seconds.

On top of that many people don’t know how to regulate their emotions in the first place, don’t have a good understanding of how their own emotions work, and don’t have a good relationship with their emotions.

It’s difficult for sure.

Feel all the emotions, give them time to breathe then move on usually.

Served me fell so far.

Don’t hold it in if it’s bad, work it out and if that means crying do so, the best solution is hugs, genuine hugs, they fix all

I feel this. I’m not doing anything except taking my meds. And therapy.

But today I’m just feeling sorry for myself.

I’m reframing things somewhat. I think my burning desire for instant gratification can often trip me up emotionally, but - I love to tease and so if I think of things as a slow burn, a tease, a long game, all part of the gratification ultimately then it reframes my response.

Okay people. At ease.
