Best reasons for cancelling meets?
Jump to: Newest in thread
We were wondering who has been given the best reason for cancelling a meet?
We've had the acceptable, time of month, illness or problems with childminders which is understandable.
We have then had a friend or family member is unwell, which again is acceptable, but when you've heard it 3 or 4 times is a bit suspect.
We've also had 3 meets cancelled due to death in the family (maybe we are jinxed!)
We had a meet cancelled because the couple decided to eat a Chinese takeaway before coming to ours and were "too stuffed" to come!
But our new favourite is now this....
We were making plans to meet a couple next week, as they had swing dates on. We sent a few messages back and forth and when we come to confirming the date, they ask for the same face pics we sent them a few weeks ago. We send and don't get any reply. While we were checking our messages through the evening we see that they have been online numerous times. So this morning we send a message asking for a reply and they say they have been in hospital since early morning having surgery so weren't in a position to reply....but found the time to log in 5 times this morning alone? Then to top it off, they then put up a status saying they are not sure what club to go to tonight....
Anyone do better than that? |

We'd arranged to meet a couple, spoke on the phone and everything seemed fine. We booked a hotel and thought everything was sorted.
Two days before our meet they cancelled saying it was for family's reasons. Fair enough we thought, that was until they put a post in the meets & events for the evening we were to meet them.
Why couldn't they just be honest, surely they would have known we would have seen their post. |

A few don't bother to turn up or even let you know that they are not coming after all .
Only one has had the decency to let us know they could not make it, they were not from this site, their excuse was that their horse lorry had broken down , at least it was a novel excuse.
We were at one date with a couple who were not married and she did not seem to even want to be there when the phone rang , she answered it and rushed off because " her house had exploded".
Wow ! Thought we , that is a fantastic safety word or excuse .
Turned out her house had indeed exploded and most of her kitchen was now in her garden . |

Nothing special, just the usual emergency call out, family emergency, or being held up etc...
I don't give second chance, once I am let down, the gent will be blocked and forgotten.

I agree 100% it's a shame that more people dont appreciate time. "
Absolutely, our time is precious-as is that of others-there should be a process in which these people can be named n shamed. This site is too timewaster friendly, it almost encourages it. |

Some meets are never meant to happen .....I can remember years ago as a couple being held up at work but managed to dash home and get cleaned and suited and booted to then have the core plug blow out in the car just 5 miles away from home , with steam and water pouring out limped back home to swap cars only to find the 4x4 wouldn't start .... Never did get to liberties and the couple we had met before ..at least they were able to play at the club still |

I appreciate everyone has life's emergencies, however, some seem to have more crisis than the rest.
I arrange my meets when I am free to meet without risks of being called out for work or other emergencies.
I don't like to arrange meets during weekdays as it stresses me out having to leave work on time, as I seldom do.

You won't know that they did nothing,if a pattern emerges of similar behaviour then it gives more credence,so if people don't report then nothing can be done at all
Would you expect to be kicked off the site if someone reported you as a timewaster when you wer'nt?
People get called timewasters on here for not reading messages quick enough, should they get kicked off?
Everyones definitions are different |

A while back when this topic came up, somebody posted that they had a meet arranged at their place, got all 'dolled-up' and were sitting waiting..... and waiting...... and waiting.... and finally thought they should phone the other couple to see if everything was okay.
They were told that the other couple were not now coming as.....'We've just had a bloody great Chinese takeaway and me and the Mrs are STUFFED!!!!!'
.... which is what I would have told them to go and get, had they done that to us.....

We had a guy we had met twice before cancel at 30 min notice because 'his bottle went'. This guy had fought in the army and had about 20 verifies so didn't strike us as a nervous first timer. We suspect now he was married and couldn't get away or got found out. He went off the site soon after so we don't take it personal |

"i just had to cancel yesterday as it was snowing , and a 90 mile motorbike ride to a meet wasnt an option but i have re-scheduled.but it miffed me a bit as i had it planned for ages. i also had meets cancelled cos of illness, it happens but as playing as a single bloke it narks a bit somtimes when you plan it all and it goes tits up "
I may have to cancel going to a club night tonight as I am concerned about the ice and motor bike equation.
Would it be really out of order to cancel even though I am well looking forward to a gang bang!!??

We had the same fab guy not turn up on us 3 times:
1. Drank too much to drive
2. Daughter turned up (18 year old)
3. Just left the gym, later than he should have arrived with us.
Can I name and shame?

Arranged to meet a guy 3 times and every time there was a different excuse as he was a supposed single parent i thought well things may be hard for a single parent giving him the benefit of doubt
Wasnt until a couple of days later and saw he had met another couple on the same night he had arranged to meet me that he got told exactly where to go and also got blocked xx

excuses from single guys include, i set away but realised your to far away (5 mins drive) , my cat got run over, my house got burgled and i had to wait for forensics coming, i couldnt get any condoms in time for the meet, i have no hot water to shower before i come over.
only one excuse from a couple was that husband had been to football match on the afternoon and got arrested and wife didnt want to come alone. |

"We had a guy cancel because his hamster had died ."
I cancelled a meet cos my cat was ill and was hiding in his safety place which happens to be under my bed - rescheduled it for a coupla weeks later...
Was supposed to be going clubbing with a regular guy of mine and I slipped a disc and trapped my sciatic nerve (in one fell swoop!) so that got cancelled on the day
The only time I've fell out with anyone over cancellations was a guy who was only a few miles away, we'd already played once before and he arranged to come to mine after work...messaged me on Fab 20 mins before he was due to arrive that he had a presentation to do the next day that he needed to work on - I was pissed off that he couldn't have texted/messaged earlier and said so and blocked him
And finally, one no show who disappeared from site, but that was not long after I'd restarted swinging so my twatometer wasn't as finely tuned as it is now |

I think we can come accross as time wasters, when we message people we are clear that we are short notice meets and cant plan in advance due to work and family. Just before xmas we did manage to plan to meet a couple and mother nature came unexpectadly but prior to that we had a works xmas do to go to which we told them about and said we would be about an hour later than expected. Rush home to get changed into some new underwear that Id bough special and only noticed as I though best to use the loo as it was about an hours drive, they were ok about it but I dont think they believed me... was gutted too cos really wanted to meet them! |

I drove 75 miles to meet a lady off here in a pub in Oxfordshire. Having sat there waiting for over an hour I then received a text saying can’t make it I am waiting for a delivery for my neighbour...so I drove home
As excuses go I was impressed even more so as it was a Saturday night god knows who the delivery company was.

I was heading for a meet, and texted them I would be five minutes late due to traffic. (was a 2 hour drive from me)
Got to the address, and no one answered the door. After calling them and getting no response, and waiting for a half hour, I drove another 2 hours home. Had a message on the site from them... As I was going to be late, I was a timewaster... |

Had a social planned last weekend and I messaged the couple to assure them that we had indeed secured a sitter and to check times etc and they messaged back saying that mother nature had showed up and that their whole weekend was ruined. It was a SOCIAL ffs!!! I don't even know why I was surprised. |

Have to admit ne of the worst was actually a true one we gave to a couple.
Our first chicken, one that we had stupidly named was really ill and we had to despatch it in a rather unconventional but humane way. We told the couple and rather brilliantly they changed their profile update to..
A Poultry excuse
We understand why they wouldn't want to meet again, shame they did seem like a giggle. |

My only reason for cancelling:
She was too good to be true, I knew there was something weird about this. There just had to be. It was my own dumb luck. I gave her my phone number because she seemed eager to speak to me after a few days messaging.
She called me...
She sounded like a man. A fat scally man with the worst scally scouse accent I have ever heard... and I live on the topside of Bootle and Walton...
Anyway yeah, man, scally accent, with a stuffed nose to top it off and sounding proper leery and just eeee what the fuck am I still listening for?
"Are ya gonna meet me den or wot lad? Wot ya lookin forrrrr?"
'No!' lol
"No??? Why not lad?"
'Just no!' Hung up! ...cringed much! |

We do give people the benefit of doubt as we have kids and mrs works long really unsociable hours and can be called into work at short notice.
As long as we are told in advance that they can't make it then we find it ok..
However, we did have a guy we arranged to meet, have him number address ect then heard nothing, I jokingly sent an email saying take it you had a better offer and he replied saying yes, sorry for letting you down.. He didn't even have an excuse x |

Reason.... I broke a front tooth while eating my tea
All showered and shaved ! ... all that was left was something to eat and then go get dressed !

Would you expect to be kicked off the site if someone reported you as a timewaster when you wer'nt?
People get called timewasters on here for not reading messages quick enough, should they get kicked off?
Everyones definitions are different"
Been there, had a guy send me a second message demanding to know why I hadn't read his message, suffice to say we didn't chat further |

Only had to reschedule meets or arrange for it to be just a social due to mother nature, I think that this is acceptable as I would not feel comfortable playing whilst I am limited to certain aspects. In fact we have had a few socials recently where the other woman was on her period and had a lovely time without any play x |

Had a second meet all arranged, but he never turned up and switched off his phone - he text me the next day saying he spent the night in jail for being disorderly/pissing in the street........ |

Best one that I had made to me was she'd had to go to her Mum's, who lived several miles away, because her Mum had been chewing a toffee and had bust her palate with her false teeth on, and she was going to superglue it back together!!! |

"my best one was a guy who id arranged to meet text me 5 mins after the time we arranged, so i had already getten the train and was waiting for him, to say he was sorry but there was a change of plan, he was no longer coming to pick me up as he'd had another offer and he was meeting them instead "
A lucky escape! |

My one blow out was whilst approaching the front door of the hotel I was due to meet a couple at.
Having spoken to them 10 minutes before to say I'd parked and arrived and been given the room number I was then called back tone told "something's cropped up at home" and they'd have to cancel! As they were 2 hrs from home I said hope its nothing serious and no problem!!
Jumped back in my car and headed home (hadn't made a special journey as I'd been working in that particular city that day !) and when I logged on next day to send a "hope alls well" message - imagine my surprise to see a glowing veri from a local couple!
Guess some folk like to have a back up plan - which I understand - but it would be nice to know that in advance! |

Really shocked that people on here have been stood up :O when I had my old profile, I had something like 6/7 meets and not once been stood up. Had to cancel like a day before but rearranged for another day
I want to join in on the excuses so here's a few from me
"Mother got loose again and had to go find her!"
"Had to go save the world from alien ninja penguins!"
"Got stuck in a position where I lost my keys and mobile"
"I got sucked into a parallel universe and had to fight to save my life"
"I'm sorry, I don't speak English!"
"I just recently died in a terrible stamp collecting accident"
That's just from back of my head |
