Being held accountable for what you did in the past ......
Jump to: Newest in thread
What did everyone do in the past that is illegal now ?
e.g. it was commonplace for unruly children to be smacked - illegal in some places now but should the parents of 50 year olds be prosecuted for it ?
What could YOU be done for retrospectively ?

I had to do an exercise like this for a course I was doing at the time…….. turns out that I was some sort of gangster that would be spending the rest of my life in jail |

With relation to things which are now not legal but were at the time, I believe it is neither necessary or useful to be retrospectively prosecuted/punished.
However, there are many actions throughout our life’s for which we should hold ourselves accountable, most of which are legal but not necessarily moral. |

"Only the good songs that I liked
Haha yeah. Trying to stop it when it finishes before the DJ starts talking "
I had some of my best song collections taped from the radio. It was quite exciting making sure you were ready to pause at just the right second! |

I wouldn't disagree but I asked about legalities not moralities which are two very different things...
I see no point in retrospective punishment for something that was not illegal at the time it was carried out ... |

Me too ...... sigh .... the old scotch tape. The squeal of the rewind .... fantasic whirry counter tho ... always knew where to stop n start. The smell of electrics and plastics....... perfume to me. |

I used the first part of my reply to answer your question ( regarding parents being prosecuted for smacking their now grownup children).
I used the second part, and deliberately kept it separate, in an attempt, futile it would seem, to expand the topic of accountability |

I had a recorder that I could tape over Jim Reeves and put what songs I wanted on the tape. |

Are “dodgy satellite boxes” still a thing…. They were like all the rage in east London… dodgy box plus dodgy card equalled lots of happy children… and teenage boys watching so sketchy German films late at night!!!
And before you either shake your head, you know you did!!! |

Did that too, trying to pause the tape between songs and hoping the 90 tape didn't cut out in the middle of a good song.
Then we were blessed with napster and limewire to download
Also wiring 2 video recorders together to copy the rented videos |

They were hard times, Granny. It was just after The Great War. Not many people can relate to that...other than Nora. |

Nero! On the infinitesimally minuscule chance the store came over as ‘ok’ online, don’t do it!! It is not an experience you will cherish. |

It would be a travesty if Çede was lurking anywhere in Mayfair and didn't inform me beforehand. |
