Mark here: I'm finally considering going to a dentist / orthodontist. This is with a view to asking about Braces.
I know from prior experience, I am a likely candidate.
But I would really like to hear from people regarding their experiences, costs and whether they still have them.
Thank you again in advance,
Mark of M & J |

I did smile direct aligners. £1500, took 5 months and couldn’t be happier. I chose them because traditional metal braces would have been almost £3k and taken 2 years |

Thank you Fluffy Chicken, I was tempted but I do know that Smile Direct Aligners do not work for everyone.
I also have heard about some downsides and people having to go to an Orthodontist afterwards any way.
Glad your experience has been more positive.
Thank you for your reply,
Kind regards

No worries
Both my children had metal braces in their teens, long running but gave very good results.
Only thing I’d say is whichever method you choose don’t forget to wear your retainers afterwards |

A some point in the past year or two (I can't quite pinpoint when) I got that thing where one of my front teeth popped slightly forward. Jeremy Corbyn style! Not quite that bad, but I don't really want it to get worse. It is 'a thing' - I had a gf one who had it happen to her in her 30's. It never bothered her (she didn't care about that kind of thing at all) but it's bugging me a little when I see it now.
My last partner (who showed me some amazing dental work done in her youth thinking about it - it transformed her smile) said it would be quite easy to sort out, but not sure I want to pay 1500 though that's the thing.
I did look at some prices last year (for the things you get sent to you in the post) and it seems they start quite high unfortunately. It's cost of vanity I suppose. But teeth (and smiles) are really important imo and I just want mine to be what it was. pt |

Well you'll have to decide what works best for you, not always vanity.
Over crowding, misalignment, difficulties in brushing etc
Smile Direct Club (sent to you in the post).
Orthodontics have always been pricey! Unless your parents where organised enough to get you to an Orthodontist.
These days, I'm told NHS queues are so long, people take their children and go private.
Regards,

Hey Mark!
My experience of adult braces, what nobody will tell you is they are a lifetime commitment, once your teeth are where you want them to be you’ll need to maintain them forever; adult teeth will move and try to return to their pre aligned place or at least somewhere else in your mouth, you’ll need fixed retainers at the rear of your teeth (thin strips of metal) that last as long as they last, my first ones lasted two years, I’m on my second and they’re three years and going strong.
You need removable retainers usually at night which are akin to a gum shield, the Invisalign removable retainers are great, come in a pack of three, I paid £300 for mine.
As you say, Invisalign and the Smile Direct options don’t work for everyone, I had tooth coloured / white fixed braces for three years.
They absolutely murdered for months, you’ll become an expert with dental floss, interdental brushes and the very best of all, dental gum which you basically use to cover the ends of the metal strips that move the teeth; the metal ends poke the shit out of your gums until they feel akin to someone else’s mouth believe me!!
Don’t bother with anything cosmetic, get the full metal braces, they are the cheapest (or were when I chose wrong) and they work quicker!
Embrace the metal, forget what they look like as nobody cares; you’ll get used to talking with them in about four weeks and stop spitting at everyone when your mouth moves in about two weeks!
All that said, I love my teeth now and I hated them previously. They’re a lifetime investment and costs thousands initially plus at least a grand a year (UK prices) for cosmetic hygiene (they clean between your fixed retainers properly and isn’t available on the NHS) plus whitening, retainers, trays etc.
Worth every penny.
Finally, invest in an electrical tooth brush with plenty of soft heads and find that cosmetic hygienist before you get the braces; you’ll need both, former several times a day and the latter every four to six weeks!
Enjoy |

I also pulled my dentist after chatting her up for a year, simply one of the fucks of my life! I mistakenly told her one day that she caught my gums with her nails it made my cock twitch!
Once we started dating she’d deliberately nailed my gums while she was attending to my teeth; I almost got very messy more than once!
Bitch…….fucking love it

In the west. |
I have just got my braces off. I went toy dentist who gave me 2 options, 6 Month Smiles or Invisilign. I went for 6 Month Smiles, as he said it would probably be quicker than Invisilign by about a year and much cheaper.
I had them on for 5 months. I now have fixed retainers and 2 I wear at night that can be used to whiten them, with gel. |
