I'm feeling very proud this morning. My son (he's 16, autistic and this time last year was crippled with anxiety)
Requested a meeting with his boss to plead his case to be paid the same as other staff his age, doing the same job.
He's been there for around 8 months, works so hard, goes above and beyond and they've been using him as cheap labour.
What have you fought for lately?

I fight every day to set the best standards and example for our two, and to provide them with a much better childhood than I had (not that mine was bad)  |

I'm a single parent, full time job and fight everyday to keep my child healthy, educated, loved, clothed, make sure she knows how honoured I am to be her father and protect her no matter what.
And well done you, everyday a new battle won. |

That’s amazing! Glad you’re fighting it and I hope he does get what he’s owed 
Our youngest is disabled and we’ve been fighting for 2 years to get some help. We finally won in March and she’s coming on so much now! Such a sense of relief for us but at the same time the amount of pride we have in our little girl taking everything in her stride, with enthusiasm and a massive smile on her face, is priceless  |

I'm a single parent too and there's always challenges especially with 3 boys but it's so worth it to see them shine.

Well done him takes a lot of courage to do what he has done especially at such young age
Have been banging on at work about people with Medical issues at work for the past year
Some medical issues cannot be seen outwardly the person looks to all intentions purposes
Work have now listened after a year of me banging on about it
They have actually put a scheme in place to help people
Only a small thing but very proud that eventually they listened |

That's amazing and I'm so glad you've all finally got some help. Having worked within social care for years and fought our own battles for support for my sons and family members I understand the frustration. I'm sure she gets all her courage from you guys x |

To fight for equal rights and to all be treated fairly in this day and age should be given
We all should take a long look at ourselves and think

Oh gosh, I've spent the past 4 years researching and fighting for my right to be seen as a British citizen. I'm stuck in a sexist loophole that was in place before I was even born. So, unfortunately I'm being penalised because of the law when my grandparents were alive.
I could pay £1.5k plus for the privilege but I'm going down the "what's rightfully mine" route.

So many are granted on appeal. It seems as though the default is to reject just to save money. It makes me so cross!

Please report the employer. Generally employers that pay one member of staff unfairly will have a history of abuse. In the UK the HMRC will investigate. There is a form that can be completed online.

I'm sorry you're having this battle
Its far too common and seems to be based on who can fight hardest for support hence the rejection and the appeal.
Education system is so under funded and underresourced.
I hope he gets the support in place he needs |

Well done to you, your family and your son OP!!!! Everyday I fight to get out of bed, I’m utterly worn down by my lasting effects from brain cancer and the chaos of the world in general. I got a pay rise at work recently too |

I love this!!! Good on your son, overcoming his anxiety to fight for his own equal rights. Brilliant!! And good on you for being the kind of parent who nurtured him so he has the confidence to do that. I hope he gets equal pay.
And shame on his employer. Shame. Do the right thing! (And not before time) In fact - the right thing would be an apology and back pay. |

That's amazing and I'm so glad you've all finally got some help. Having worked within social care for years and fought our own battles for support for my sons and family members I understand the frustration. I'm sure she gets all her courage from you guys x"
Thank you, I’ve always worked in social care and the lack of any support is disgusting. I suppose it helps us that we know social care and the things that can be available. It’s the ones who have no idea about it that I feel sorry for at the moment, it’s heartbreaking.

A policy at a college of disclosing students medical information to parents and carers (e.g. attending appointments. As a part of enforcing attendance. Even with adult students 18+
It potentially places young people at risk and the ICO confirmed it is not appropriate handling of personal information. |
