Apparently Saudi Arabia has introduced a law against trolling online with a maximum fine of £122,000 and or including jail.
Is this the beginning of the end of online abuse...or just one country imposing it's will on free speech?
Btw, before you jump all over OP for this thread I in no way support free speech when it comes to abusive behaviour |

"Is it all over the news?"
No idea. Heard it on radio this morning... apparently one guy has already been fine £2000 for an abusive message to a work colleague on whatsapp |

"
I demand Tom Lord of Essexshire be present in this forum to answer, we simply cannot address these issues without his presence |

People usually use the words free speech when they are about to say something they shouldn't. Any form of abuse behind a computer screen or in person should be called out. |

Called out, but not banned. |

"Depends on who's defining trolling In Saudi, anything that goes against freedom of expression, religion, sexuality or ant other form of independant thought."
Well, indeed.
I think as a society we probably need to have a discussion about the limits of free expression (I listened to a podcast this morning where as a form of political protest, a group made accusations of abuse against a mother, for example) - but we also need to be mindful of blatant repression. |

"I’m very much for free speech, regardless of what’s being said, so long as doesn’t incite/call violence.
"
Some people call a difference of opinion trolling. |

Agreed. Is a slippery slope when you start to define what can/cannot be said imo.
I’m one that supports true freedom of speech so long as doesn’t incite violence. Not a fan of the hate speech laws as an example. |

"Is it all over the news?
Not you again ?
Indeed it is, I'm exercising my right to freedom of speech, pal
You need to exercise more!"
I'm really not sure how to take that. Also, I'm a wheelchair user, so....... Yeah. |
