"Stuck the landing!!!! Now wait for them to sing the classic “I found lovin “
I felt a few people wanted to break into a round of applause for that
Why"
Because it was an excellent performance

It's an odd phrase, isn't it? We show praise with applause, signalling our appreciation of the virtue we have witnessed.

" A country created by and for immigrants (at the expense of the indigenous people) offers a reason to pledge to the flag. The narrative of the American dream and their freedoms is as much a myth as their idea of equality and democracy. I observed the inculcation of shame for not showing pride in the flag, starting at nursery school. Classes start the day with the Pledge of Allegiance.
I'm glad our children are given more opportunity to think about their allegiance, but we have our own versions, and that is played out here with the rituals we observe.
Our flag is a contested thing. We see its parts at sporting events and on each nation's day. It feels like an uneasier alliance than at any other time of my life. The Coronation offers some strengthening of those alliances for some, but not all.
The world comes to big occasions, few other nations could say the same. 130 other nation's royals and Heads of States, and their partners, arrived over the last few days just for this. They did the same for the late Queen's funeral. "

He's stripped of his robes, and only gets to dress up again once he has been annointed.

An amazing ceremony.
Considering very few, if any of the service leaders will ever have done this before, its incredible.
So many of the "old tradtions" of the service changed for the modern world.
I've never seen a coronation, nor am I likely to see another.
It's both emotional and moving.

Am I the only morbid one who has wondered how it feels to back in Westminster Abbey being crowned king when the last time he was he was there was the queens funeral and would remind him of her. |

He’s looked emotional at times so I’m sure he’s thinking of her today |

"The history, pomp and circumstance, music …
I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but as an event in our lifetime it is a shared experience that binds us together.
God Save The King"
Nope. Doesn't bind me to anyone or anything. Just shows me how much I don't belong here, never have, and never will.
No gods, no kings, and only masters and mistresses of the BDSM sort, thank you. |

Is this the first time that Camilla as Queen technically won't be the queen mother to the future King .... biologically speaking ??"
I'll consult Debretts Peerage.....
I'm guessing Queen Mother in name..... |

I don't believe Queen Mother was used before the late Queen's mother. I think it was used as there were three queen's at the late Queen's ascension. |

"I am finding it hard to watch anything other than Penny's magnificent decolletage

Penny Mordaunt, in blue with the sword, only one of the most important people in the country, Leader of the House of Commons and Lord President of the Privy Council, but hey! |

I like that this element of the Communion Mass is there. It makes it all more familiar to people - in the old days almost all present would have known it. |

Ah..ok Knowing faces isn’t my forte but thanks for the info. Decolletage usually means actual cleavage/skin so I was expecting someone with a low cut dress |

I don't like Penny Maudaunt at all, but she's possibly had one of the hardest jobs, standing still for two hours, in high heels, holding what is probably a very heavy and awkward object. I was concerned she might drop the sword and Charles III could have followed Charles I |

I don't like her either but I agree she's had one of the most difficult tasks in terms of endurance. |

My son said that the bit on the ring tray on which the rings were supported looked like a wiener. In my day it was known as a willy and you might have other names for it. I thought it looked like one of those sybian sex machines, but couldn’t possibly say that out loud. |

I do miss singing in a choir.
The music has been glorious.
I've had chills from some of the singing.

I had an unexpected message from a friend in Europe to say they thought the whole thing needed more joyful gospel.

It was the Kyrie Eleison:
Arglwudd, trugarhâ, Crist, trugarhâ. Arglwydd, trugarhâ.

They gave the solemnity a nice lift.
I remember singing Zadok the Priest at the Royal Albert Hall as a child.
It's rather hard to sing. |

One doesn't ride with one's hands. A proper rider rides with their seat. You can jump, canter etc very effectively with no hands. |

It was at the Children's prom in the late 70s. The Albert Hall was filled with school choirs and a children's orchestra. |

They barely had time for a loo break before facing the troops. Anne was out there with the troops, but I suppose she gets lots of practice with the number of visits/events she gets through a year.

I agree it's a skill not to be underestimated. Playing any instrument is a skill that requires concentration to do it on horseback is something else |

I honestly think they'll have memorised the music. My Grandad was a Drum Major in the army and he pointed out to me that you don't often see musicians turning the pages during a parade. The music pages are part of the "scene". But yes, playing whilst riding is a difficult thing to do. |

Yabusame. Riding on horseback, very fast, no hands, firing a bow and arrow at a small target.
Playing a tuba is pretty fuck'n impressive though. |

Rougher than a badgers bottom.
First cigarette I ever smoked, pinched one off my gran when she wasn't looking.
Never pinched another one.....
