Tom is no fan of vegan sausages and he thinks they should be called something else like vegan sticks or vegan torpedos. The Heck sausage company is no longer producing vegan sausages.
Either lack of demay or too pricey. What's going on here guys. It's all over the news |

I’m glad they’ve stopped making them, as much as I’m not a fan of vegans, putting them in sausages was simply wrong |

So should we start calling Pringles sausages? They’re just stuff in tubes |

I am with Tom on this they just use meat names to convince people it's the same thing just without meat which is stupid as we all know non meat eaters love to talk about how they have given up the biggest part of the human diet.
Pretty much all fruit and vegetables in you're supermarket did not exist in the same form as they do now 350 years ago.
Fact! But meat is still plant-based if raised outside... |

"If you trim a leek into a cylinder then surely that's classed as a vegan sausage
Now you’re just being deliberately obtuse"
Up until today I,d not met or heard of a vegan that was not an insufferable arrogant pompous & self indulgent individual & to confirm nothings changed.
Dear meat eaters, Costco sausages are 95% meat. So many meaty enjoyable carcuses used there, I,m going to get an extra pack now. |

How odd...
Vegan... and yet happy for someone to die angry over a position on dietary consumption.
Truely we live in the age of morally superior ideologs |

This company may have needed to market its products differently. The results come at a point where millions have struggled to afford base essentials, including heating.
It's also an increasingly competitive market, which poses tough outcomes for those who aren't specialists, during a harsh economic climate.
Greggs and others have shown success but have direct relationships with their customers, so know them very well. Wholesalers may stumble with this, especially if they are not specialists in the new field, such as vegan food overall.
I think it's great that they explored but they were perhaps victims of misfortune and maybe lack of intelligence and relevant expertise. |

"I know the cliche is that vegans are meant to be insufferable, but I tend to see way more insufferable behaviour from meat eaters... And that's coming from a fellow meat eater."
Just silly, odds on you know more meat eaters so not going to be very exact. |

We have a greggs outlet (as opposed to a 'normal' greggs) where they sell products from training bakeries and unsold items.
By 12 o'clock everything is gone apart from the vegetarian products ...... even the corned beef slices have sold out. |

Obviously unable to do a taste test now but I stopped eating Richmond 5 years ago so maybe they got better in 5 years! |

I know loads of vegans, they're all pretty chill, and I admire their choice to follow a more sustainable diet that minimises the suffering of animals... Listening to diehard carnivores constantly try and defend eating meet and the horrific industry associated with it, while making the same dumb remarks about veganism, is pretty cringe. |

As an aside......if you were ever unlucky enough to be marooned on an uninhabited island after your ship sank and you'd have to pick one other survivor....it would have to be a vegan, because like best Wagu beef they are fattened up on the very best vegetable matter, and would surely taste marvellous. |

Most of us vegans or as I prefer plant based diet eater are quite trim IE very little in the way of body fats. Some that don't know how to eat properly are unhealthily malnourished. Alot like myself are considerably fitter and more agile than the same age/gender person are and some are switches so I'd have no problems with being the "vegan" maroonee as you'd die trying to catch me and if I got bored off eating trees and grass I could switch to something meaty |

The range of plant based foods is rapidly expanding now that they are becoming commercially viable so it's only going to get better from here as more people are educated to the benefits. |

Precisely.

Maybe it's what the idea behind the original thread was , but thus seems to have swayed way off topic though.
I'm amazed at the childishness of many of the meat eaters posts though.
It's been proven by many people , including top athletes etc, that a meat free diet is perfectly healthy for the majority of people.
It's also been proved that most people eat far too much meat and especially processed meat/red meat which is linked to cancers.
If only they stopped and did some real research then at least cut back on the meat...
My question is
Why can't 'Tom' post a thread without referring to himself in the first person all of the time?
It's a very strange thing to do.
Illusions of grandeur?

Processed junk such as sausages, vegan or meat is just awful. |

Vegans, as in vegan sausages or vegans as in vegans? What are vegans “just better” than? Sausages? |

"Hopefully this is the end of this fad of vegans and vegetarians "
It is the future I'd say...meat will become more and more expensive to produce and tougher to provide dough for the growing population.
People will become more aware through education that they consume far too much of it.

I was talking about dairy replacements such as milks, butters and yoghurts. The range of nuts, pulses and other proteins that you can buy in a supermarket rather than specialist shops. Off the shelf sauces etc that have no animal based products in them. Cutting animal based products out of your diet has never been easier or more available than now and it's only going to open up more as the consumers dollars start driving the market. |

Trouble is dairy free milk butter and yogurts are very unpalatable in my opinion.
It’s kerrygold and cows milk all the way. |

The thing I have against the vegan sausages that have been produced since it became fashionable is that they taste too much like meat.
It’s like the new vegans don’t have the courage of their convictions and would still rather eat meat. |

Many experienced and long time vegans do not eat processed meat substitutes.
They are mass produced and processed alternatives that companies make a lot of money from.
They ard definitely a way for people to make changes to their meat laden diets if they have been traditionally eating meat for a long time and think they might struggle without it.
Not all vegans or vegetarians eat a meat substitute.
I think many people just assume that.
Just because it is on sale does not mean that all vegetarians or vegans eat it.

Sausages and burgers don't really taste or look like meat anyway.
You'd think that, with all the seasoning, salt, reconstitution and reshaping, they're trying to make them look and taste like something they're not. |

I eat meat, but I’ll be damned if I eat sausages these days. They’re stuffed full of shit and a minimum required amount of meat.
Hell, even the sausages I ate last night were 45% meat and the rest was bread and god knows what. They tasted like pure shite. |

I had this discussion on Facebook with owners and customers of a vegan restaurant. The consensus was that they don’t want to eat meat but they enjoy the flavour and texture, hence the heavy reliance in meat substitutes.
I wouldn’t eat there.
