We seem infatuated with doing things ever faster amd using it as a reason to justify thr intrusion of tech into everything, and being told its better for us.. Shopping, travelling, communication, are three examples... Dating sites...

Does speed improve our lives?

In some areas yes, like washing machines have saved so much time but other areas have taken a hit. It does mean we all have more time to enjoy what we like

Most household appliances dont get the credit they deserve like fridges, dishwashers ect have made life so much simpler for people. Both in saving time and and keeping food longer.

I know I couldn’t live without mine

Fridges and freezers are also good as it means you don't have to go to the shop every day

Exactly imagine having to go food shopping every day, no thank you

Also the modern supermarket we get everything in one place instead of the butchers, fishmongers ect

All over

"No"

As everyone else is giving sensible answers I thought I best revise mine. Yes technological advances have in many cases made things easier and less time consuming too. However we have also lost lots of other precious stuff on that journey that sometimes are more important to quality of life. A good balance is always needed imo. People zoom their parents only down the road. What is that about, pop in and give them a cuddle. We are not in lockdown still. Perhaps a bit of an exaggeration but still

You are definitely right there people do tend to live in the fast lane a lot in modern life.

There are a lot of good things that have came out of it but generally people now lack as much human contact that was once the norm. Maybe not so much on here as we do love the physical connection as such. That in tern is probably the biggest downfall to such advances

But that removes exercise, fresh food and exercise from our lives?

For fresh food. Unadulterated with preservatives and gm to make it last longer? One supermarket replacing lots of local specialist shops? Doesn't feel like a benefit.

Can definitely see that but then it is cheaper to buy at the supermarket so there is a cost saving to be had

It does allow people to easily access a wider variety of products to build into our diets

Only if you choose to remove them. It's possible to own a fridge and freezer and still eat fresh food and exercise.

Wherever

Not necessarily. I’d have to agree about the technology part but it takes away a lot of human interaction. I might be old fashioned and ignorant but I’m not okay with where things are going.
