1.
Previous car was being scrapped and had too many parts and modified bits to lose.
Also mate was selling an very low mileage one for £900 so couldn't pass up.
Had 26k on the clock, not bad for a then 15 year old car. |

3 a gift. A surplus car in the family.
When I was younger I would choose a car because I liked the colour
But now I'm older..reliability and MPG are more important. |

We drove 2 hours (one way) to view the car. Our then current car was due for an MOT and I wasn't going to pass without spending a godly amount on it. Plus, we didn't need such a big car anymore.
We weren't 100% sure we were going to drive away with the car but I hate car shopping so we took it.
Few teething problems but got sorted out. Love it now.

"5 - I had someone go into the back of mine and write it off. I like my new car but it was a case of what was available within budget x
Would you prefer the other one back if you could?"
In a way. It was an 08 diesel which just kept going. I was hoping to keep it a few more years while electric motors bedded in and then change it x |

Mostly 1 but also 5.
Had a really nice Laguna but when Bristol brought in the clean air zone I would have to start to pay the £9 a day, so went and bought the car I had wanted for a while that was CAZ approved. |

2,I needed a car asap & within budget. It wasn't the car I wanted, it's a nice speck. It's doing me good, for now anyway. Wouldn't so no to changing it now, financially can't this year. So I'll plough on with it for awhile longer. |

Had an issue with the salve cylinder causing the clutch pedal to go to the floor on two occasions within first month of ownership of previous car.
So just picked up something to commute to work etc that was more reliable.

I am not really interested in cars anymore.
I was at one point but traffic and speed cameras what's the point?
I just went one those car supermarket places picked one that was the best deal. Decent engine 2 years old bought it.
Now if I lived in the states. I'd have a Dodge Ram Pickup and a Dodge Challenger Hellcat. |

5 - company car ordered during lockdown - didn't even see it, never mind test drive it, until it was delivered. It was a brand new model - had to ask the delivery driver how to start it ![](/icons/s/surprised.gif) |

I guess 2. My previous car was on credit but I needed to lower my outgoings and also needed a big car.
We call my current car 'tommy tank' because it's huge but a bit wank ![](/icons/s/eek.gif) |

Mine was a gift from my dad as has the last 5 been. Dad had a big inheritance and is set up for life. I don’t even know when there coming, he just turns up and gives me the keys.
However I do sell the old one and try my best to give him the return on it. He never excepts it though.
It was a case of he wanted me to have a decent car to drive his grandkids around in.
I am so grateful and feel so blessed by his generosity. I haven’t owned a car for a long time that been older than 4 years as he buys them new.

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest |
1- It's the car I would've owned had I remained a bachelor in my mid twenties. I purchased it in Central London then drove back to the North Scottish Highlands where I was living and working at the time. Had never driven in the UK before. Amazed I never got on the wrong side of the road ![](/icons/s/razz.gif) |

Literally just got a car yesterday.
We’d been down to one car for nearly years. Went into the dealer and after chat about 6-9 months delivery on a new car they told us about cars due within the month. We picked one of those. |

I’ve got a Toyota CHR hybrid, I saw one when I was learning to drive and immediately loved how it looked. I did the usual read reviews and watched a few on YouTube, they were all generally positive.
Had it for a couple of years now and still enjoy how it looks and drives.
So yes I knew what I wanted, no interest in any other car or brand and went out and bought one. |

I have never chosen my cars, mine have always been sourced with the criteria of 'got to be cheap and cheerful' Currently own a Vauxhall Corsa and a Peugeot 206 Auto, both cheap both cheerful lol

I went to test drive one car and didn't like it so I ended up with this one
It's something that bit me on the arse, through my own lack of research
I'm not in any rush to change it this year, it hasn't let me down breakdown wise, it's just cost me more than I expected to keep it on the road in a good running order
New Tyres x 4, new brakes & discs, new bushes front & rear, timing belt, alternator, rear & middle exhaust, new battery and the fun just continues... it's now started to sound clunky round the front passenger side wheel, so it will be in again in the next week or so
I've only had it 11 months ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

To me a car is a car.
I will NEVER buy a new car, you lose too much money.
I bought my current car because it was cheap and it worked. It had a full MOT. Two windows didn’t go down properly when the button was pressed - I fitted new window mechanisms that cost me £20 each and I fitted them myself.
At the last MOT it needed new rear brake discs and pads. That was it. It starts first time, it drives nicely, it stops.
That’s all I need! |

Saw a person at work have the same car and it fitted the bill.
Cheap to run and had every option on it.
It was the same length as the car I had but more roomy and high up like a suv.
Old car was getting expensive to run with fuel insurance road tax and general repair and maintenance.
