So in light of what happened with tesco's what other animals would you regard as unacceptable to eat?
Personally, if my life depended in it....I'd eat anything as long as it died naturally lol!!!!! |

Nope, I'm happy to eat pretty much anything. Am in training for the coming apocalypse when all the picky buggers and vegetarians will starve.
More meat for me. |

Just amazes me that such a fuss is made about eating one animal when we are quite happy to scoff our way through millions of other animals each year.....quite contradictive I think!!!!! |

Personally I don't see the big deal about horse meat in burgers. Not like it's human.
But I'd eat anything tbh. Unless it was an endangered species. I'd even try the synthetic human meat I saw in bizarre ages ago |

Labrador.
I have eaten alligator, ostrich, zebra and kanagaroo though.
Difficult to buy the zebra in the supermarket though as the scanner couldn't read the barcode. |

If I was starving I'd eat anything to stay alive. Even people. (if you've seen the film 'Alive' about the plane crash in the Andes you'll know what I am referring to here) |

Im probably going to ruffle a few feather here but here goes lol
I dont see what the big deal is, if you eat a cow why not eat a horse?
Personally i dont eat meat, thats my choice, but i dont see how people can think its ok to kill one animal for food but not another??
You either agree with the slaughter of animals for food or you dont |

Exactly! I do get a bit fed up of people saying they couldn't possibly contemplate eating a horse while chomping on meat they have no idea of the provenance of. I exclude all contributors to this thread from that statement. |

I'll eat anything except people!
I'd also have a bit of an issue with dog, but if my.life depended on it then I'm afraid that Rover is for the pot. I'd avoid monkey too as I don't fancy Ebola.
I eat rabbit and venison regularly as I shoot and butcher it myself. |

I don't understand all the fuss to be honest. Maybe it's because people weren't given the choice, it's the unknown.
I've personally ate guinea pig, pigeon, sheep brain, horse, croc (or alligator, can't remember which), ostrich whilst on holiday, and would if it was available here too, and I could afford it!!
I can skin and prepare for cooking a rabbit too.
Meat is meat, I don't see how we can get all upset about a little horse meat whilst munching on an Aberdeen Angus burger. |

Working with someone who is blind I think I would adopt his way of eating as he will try anything and doesnt need to know what it it before he tries, so eyes shut and ear plugs in and I will eat anything |

Do you have to eat all of the animal?
There are many animals I'm not sure I could complete. An elephant or whale spring to mind. But I would have a little bite of them.
I don't think I could eat a primate, it's a little too close to cannibalism. Although I hear Spider Monkey brains are delightful. But I don't know if they get their name because they are spiders who look like monkeys not the other way round. If they are just spiders that look like monkeys I would have a little bite. |

Same here. Eaten horse meat in Belgium, didn't know it at the time because we couldn't understand the menu properly!! To be frank, it was quite tasty - served up as a stew. Only found out afterwards as someone nicked a menu & asked at the hotel what it said!!
My Grandfather told me many years ago that when he was fighting in the First World War in France, the soldiers quite often butchered horses that had been killed in the fighting and cooked and ate them. I said that was not nice and his reply was when you're hungry you will eat anything. How very true. |

Think I'd eat most anything if hungry enough...as to in normal day-to-day life, I've tried guinea pig (I've got a picture of me with a claw sticking out of my mouth somewhere!), ostrich, buffalo and croc in the "exotic" meat selection...I've never tried rabbit (and don't really want to) or venison (though I'd give that a go) I wouldn't eat cat or dog, but I can see where folk are coming from saying why not if you eat other animals |

If there are sheep being kept in the field out the back of my grandparents house i cant eat lamb for a Sunday dinner as i feel its a bit cruel.. can they smell themselves? i could be eating a distant relative though. Sounds daft but that's my 'logic' and i just cant eat it pmsl |

Not quite the same, but similar vein I suppose. My parrot loves chicken, and it;s really good for him. My housemates joke that he's eating a distant cousin. |

Sort of my point for starting this, we seem to get attached to certain types of animals dog, cats, deer, rabbits etc, who wrote the rule book on what animals are cute and what aren't.....Disney????? I have two dogs, most prob wouldn't eat dog but they do overseas but I don't think I could judge because I love a big juicy steak, lamb chop or gammon hungry just thinking about it |

Venison is a lovely meat very tender and very lean and great tasting too and even better when you have a mate who gives it to you free. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Humans and primates. Polar Bears, Elephants and Giraffes. Whales and dolphins. Offal - of any sort. Mushrooms and other fungi (in case they turn out to be animal after all).
Other than that I am willing to give it a go if I have to. I love venison and rabbit so will happily eat the cute ones. |

I wouldn't want to eat dogs, cats, and other pets of course but if I was really starving then I'd probably eat anything as long as it was cooked! As would most people. Survival instinct would kick in whether you're a veggie or not.
I don't eat lamb, don't like it but I do like goat. Never really eaten anything exotic and wouldn't, unless as said I was seriously suffering from starvation. |

I used to catch grasshoppers for a woman in honkong when I was 4, at the time I never knew they were for food!
my only fear is eating something that might contain parasites, thus rendering my fight for survival possibly useless
I dont like people really picking and choosing what animal is edible (the cute factor)
and a note to vegetarians: ur always eating something that was part of an animal...sowwwy lol |
