People who hate Croydon are just scared.
Boxpark which has the best atmosphere for football tournaments and great food.
A high street on our doorstep.
Great views over London from the towerblocks
And there's loads of parks and beer gardens and bottomless brunch places.
And 20 mins to Gatwick and London either way.

I personally believe the youth bring down Croydon when ever I have been its very prominent the youth just loiter about to cause mayhem.
Apart from that I would have said its a lovely place like Wembley Leicester Square Shoreditch it's ashame
Makes me question where are their parents and friends of their parents to not give a damn what their child or children get up to on the street.
Teenagers or young adults should be enjoying their teens in restaurants bars but if their not giving any allowances financially they end up doing things wrecklessy out of boredom |

I live half way between Croydon and Wimbledon and enjoyed both.
As stated before for Croydon
1. Costco
2. Big Mike's in Box Park aka Caribbean food
3. Coulsdon to Walk on the Surrey Downs.
For Wimbledon
1. Wimbledon Common ( still close to me now over the A3)
2. Train every 5 minutes to Waterloo
3. Bond of Wimbledon (IYKYK- if you know you know)
I'm just a simple small island girl...I don't understand the British War of "my postcode/area is better than yours" Everywhere has good points and bad points.
Putney: River good. Traffic bad!!
Barnes: River good. No shops bad!! Got to go to Sheen, Richmond or Putney for basic high street stuff...Can't go across the river since they closed Hammersmith bridge. |

Go on admit it, it's not a great place. Council in debt, weird forms of regeneration through it's joint venture partner (CCURV) which was then dissolved, wind swept town centre (possibly not as bad as Uxbridge or Luton), high crime rate and trams that like to drive on their side. Oh and the Council (through world famous architect Terry Farrell) tried to rebrand it as London's Third City.
Other than that - apparently it has a great tool shop (according to the thread). |
