I have had horse meat and just found it too rich.

I would not trust Tesco meat. I knew a supplier in Cornwall and would not feed his meat to my dogs!

Never buy meat from the supermarket, always from my local butcher at the end of the road. Cheaper and of by far superior quality.

I've eaten horse on plenty of occasions, I quite enjoy it. I've also eaten wolf, alligator, kangaroo, a frogs beating heart and iguana.

Just because its not eaten in England doesn't mean its wrong...

I've eaten horse meat in France, I didn't enjoy it much though. I have no problem with eating it but if it's being put in burgers it should be made clear I think

I have always wondered why people "balked" at horse...

of all of the different animals people eat out there... why people drew the line at horse??

like dennis leary says in his comedy set... is it because we like the save the "cute and cuddly" animals?

I eat very little lamb due to cute and cuddly, but ugly chickens get it big time..... I am very fickle

Somewhere near NE Derbyshire/S Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire border

I work for said supermarket, and have just heard about it. Chances are the suppliers of said burgers also supply other retailers but there has been no others admitting it either. Im not condoning it but how long till others follow suit

I ate that in Seoul, South Korea. It's literally cut straight from a live frog and given to you while its still beating. Apparently its an aphrodisiac but I thought it tasted like wet mud!...lol

Not really tescos fault. It's the suppliers.Who also supply iceland.

Aldi, Lidl and Dunnes only use these suppliers in their Irish stores.

Makes you realise how stupid the supermarket snobbery is when they are all supplied from the same source!

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

The only meat I buy is chicken, steak (usually ribeye) and bacon. Pretty easy to see if it's real or not.

As to horse meat, so what? My mother often told me of eating horse during the war. The French actually have dedicated horsemeat butchers.

It's just meat.

When I lived in Belgium (just outside Brussels) I would have a Sandwich American EVERY day, without fail. Basically, its raw horse meat steak finely ground down to a pate like consistency, spread over a warm baguette with some herbs and a vinaigrette. Yummy!!

Having had Teasco Finest burgers (bought last Friday) twice for dinner this week we're vaguely amused by the hoo hah.

Tbh I don't particularly LIKE the idea, but I've eaten it before - just don't like the idea of paying for 'beef' and getting 'Dobbin'

The difference seems to be that at the stores you mention, Laine, there's traces of Horse DNA in the burgers which suggests the abbatoir or meat processing plant hadn't properly cleaned their equipment after having processed horse meat which is worrying but maybe slightly understandable.

In Tesco's case, you got 29% Horse Meat in the burger which suggests their was a deliberate ploy by either Tesco's and/or their supplier to include horse meat in that particular product. Tesco's are heavily implemented in this as they have huge controls over their suppliers and even select farms themselves that will supply meat into the Tesco's foodchain.

Rumour has it though that Tesco's have dropped the idea for their new range of low cost meat products which were to be called....The Barking Burgers and The Hotdog Sausage.

I think it's all to do with horses being the sport of kings. They wouldn't eat horses and that filtered down to the rest of the common plebs. Besides, horses are nice. Frogs are slimy little fuckers and only the French would eat them things.

I've eaten everything on that list (except dog, although I have eaten wolf but there was a reason it was shot so wasting the meat wasn't an option), and I would eat it all again if offered it.
