What was your fave tv programme?
Which programme did you dislike/hate/run away from?
Inspired by a mention of Monkey on another thread. Monkey brought me out in a cold sweat, but my brother was obsessed so it was always on. |

"Magic Roundabout, which has become a metaphor for my life I think. I often hear the theme tune in the recesses of my mind."
I think I'm the only person who never watched it. Or Grange Hill. I still know the tunes though |

The Monkees, broadcast in the mid-1960s on NI TV was utterly incomprehensible, and still is; but the best cartoon ever was Top Cat, that is now sometimes referred to as Boss Cat.
A lot of the actors from Sergeant Bilko did the voiceovers, but the best was Officer Dibble.
Blue Peter was aimed at British middle class kids and I personally found it boring! |

Banana Splits!! Few hours of cartoons, live action like Robinson Crusoe .
Summer was white horses, belle and Sebastian. Three musketeers. Flashing blade.
Double deckers. Mary mungo and midge!!
Beverly hillbillies. Knew I growing up when Ellie may went to cement pond!
The Champions…as I got bit older. |

What did you watch in your teens? I remember going up the street for the Banana Splits because they had a TV and my dad wouldn't give in. |

Transsexual Transylvania |
Now here's the thing... we didn't get a television service in South Africa until 1976. I was 9!
I spent my early childhood glued to my favourite radio programs - Jet Jungle (home grown superhero with his black panther), The Time Module (time travel adventure) and of course Squad Cars (radio police drama). The first proper sci-fi I remember was a BBC radio adaptation of The Sands of Mars by Arthur C Clarke.
It was all pictures in my head. Theatre of the mind, as they used to put it. I don't feel deprived. |

I can't believe how young most of you are.
All we had for entertainment in my formative years was listening to Radio Luxembourg on our crystal sets!
Thus began my life long love of all things radio.
Never had anything to do with TV for a long time and TVs much more recently.

The Flumps were awesome! Loved Granpa Flump and his Flumpet I watched an episode recently and Pootle was feeling umpty and couldn't get rid of the cloud above her head
It actually has learning value and substance for children, unlike the crap that is out there for kids now |

Oh without doubt, I owe every aspect of my mental and emotional stability to the Flumps! Pootle was my favourite. I had some books too I used to read. I remember one story with a magnet, I think slowly coming back to me lol. |

Perhaps it should have been compulsory viewing in 2020 and we would all be less traumatised! |

Trapdoor is very unique TV. That's for sure. . My ex was a fan and bought the DVD for our kids - it was most popular! |

A lot of the ones mentioned.
I liked also barbarpapa, which was like a weird french or belgian cartoon that was the tv on when I lived in the channel islands.
I also liked a historical/educational cartoon called "once upon a time man", which was on when I was a bit older. |

I kind of grew to love Panorama when I was about 9 or 10 for 2 main reasons.
1. If I sat very still and didn't make a nuisance of myself, I was allowed to stay up later, provided I sat and watched Panorama with my parents.
2. I wanted to understand what the grown ups were talking about. I kind of knew there was a bigger world "out there", but I knew so little about it and that bothered me. I desperately wanted to understand and learn and felt "left-out".
Over time, I grew to enjoy it and look forward to it.
It's probably why I'm an avid news-junkie and documentary-watcher even today.

I second the hate of Crossroads... ghastly program.
My favourite was The Magic Roundabout and later Top of The Pops ... |
