Where does the Shiveluch Volcano eruption that happened on 11th April rank compared to other eruptions in the 21st Century? GeologyHub explains in the YouTube video below. If you haven’t got the time to watch, the biggest eruption of the 21st Century is the January 2022 major VEI-6 eruption of Hunga Tonga–Hunga Ha?apai, which erupted twice as much tephra as the next 23 largest eruptions of the 21st Century combined. It wasn’t a VEI-6 eruption for nothing.
