Honestly, I signed back up because I wanted to be told I was pretty.
At the time I was dating someone who didn't and I was just feeling very unattractive.
I wanted the attention and the false flattery (which most of it is)

I've never left since I joined. I think if I do I won't return though. I log in now mostly just to read the forums and throw on the odd comment here and there. Life outside of here takes priority over fab especially at the moment. |

If you think how emotional sex and it's encounters are it's hardly surprising that there are roller coasters going on.
Initial euphoria of a potential meet that plummets into despair of rejection when they don't happen which statistically is going to happen alot.
It's very difficult not to get your hopes up when you send someone a message and even more difficult not to be disappointed when you get no response or it peters out. You kind of need to be very emotionally strong in here but this scene does attract all people and not all have the same strength or weaknesses |

I stay because I find people's attitudes and behaviour endlessly intriguing...and sadly predictable as well.
The fora are more insightful and I like a mooch around profiles.
Unlike the ladies, men come here when they're feeling buoyant and hang around until the shitkicking gets us lower, then it's off to the real world where people actually talk to you.
But its been over a decade I think and whilst samey, it never gets "old". |

Looking at some people's response to forum posts shock me, as I always thought that the alternative life would be more welcoming to minority groups

I think we've probably maxed out people that we will physically ever meet from this site based on how long we've been here and level of exposure has more than likely reached all that would be potentially interested and compatible so if the site went down we wouldn't be at a loss.

Gatekeeping exists in every community. Just to differing levels. Fab is no different. Unfortunately as you've learnt, alternative lifestyles does not guarantee a welcoming reception to minority groups.
Case in point, the "B" in LGBT is the least visible and least acknowledged/accepted within the LGBT community. Bi-erasure is a thing. People can only think in binaries, you're either A or B or neither you can't be both. |

Had a few profiles .. . Deleted the earlier ones as mostly was overwhelmed and not clear to myself about what I wanted from fab.
