Not a saying, but a word....
Whereby.
To say this is over used, and generally in the wrong context when what the individual really means 'in which', would be an understatement ..... Grrrrrrrrr!!

Clean the " window screen" instead of windscreen (Screens originally protected against the wind as in model T Ford..).....on " tender hooks" instead of tenter hooks. ( these hooks were used to dry cloth or hang meat from with sharp points). "It's always the last place you look". Well you wouldn't continue searching in other places if you have found it |

There's a couple of terms we use in our little world of electricians. One of them is a EIC, which means an Electrical Installation Certificate, but I've heard so many people refer to it as an EIC Certificate. Does my nut in does that. |

"and what is a candlestick holder uhh
I have many ...a candlestick holder stops the wax dripping over you and your furniturea candlestick does that the holder bit we add for no reason x" no a candlestick was used in the fifteenth century but was not flat bottomed but pointed so you would need a piece of wood with a hole in it to place the candlestick otherwise it would fall over |

"You'll have another thing/think coming" I've always said thing because it's usually in response to something that will happen, but apparently it's meant to be think, because you'll rethink when you realise you're wrong (kinda thing)
Lend and borrow also have different meanings but a lot of people don't seem to know that! |

"all knight long can tell us what a squib is?
A small explosive device....hence as useful ( not) as a damp squib"
Squib's a firework isn't it?
"well that went off like a damp squib", used to describe something that was a big anti-climax, a big bang that fizzled out etc |
