Has anyone else experienced this? How long did it last for? Georgey is really ill with it and has been taken into hospital. I'm really worried about him. He's been throwing up since Wednesday.

Our whole householdf had this and 2 of us got reinfected its very bad for dehydrating you as nothing(not even water) stays down.

He'll probably be fine after a day or so on a drip Make sure you dettol the place down...door handles, toilet completely and things like keys.

Diaralyte helps build your electrolytes back up after a bad dose of the trots...if you can drink it....

Hope this helps

Both Luke and myself had this I between Christmas and new year! Ours lasted for a couple of days. Sounds like georgey needs some fluids in him! We wish him a speedy recovery

Thank you. Hopefully he'll improve quickly now he's in hospital and on a drip. At least he's being cared for properly.

He should be fine, its usually young children and the elderly who struggle to recover if it isn't dealt with.

Its so exhausting if it goes on for more than 3 days - and as previously said, if you can't keep water down, you have no chance of rehydrating. Hospital is the right place for him - he'll soon be fit as a fiddle and getting under your feet again in no time! - get well soon G

Cheers all. Aparently I tore the lining of my tummy which caused reflux and kept the vomiting up for a week.

Being cared for now and dosed up on anti reflux and anti sick drugs.....

Peterborough

We were told by a nurse that winter vomitting desease is most frequently used as an excuse to close wards when hospital budgets are running low.

Maybe a case of paranoia, but we never hear of ward closures for the more serious outbreaks of swine flu or even antrax.

The decision to close wards is made by infection control, and is closely monitored, the ward is then deep cleaned and reopened after. In my exoerience its not due to loe hospital budget at all.

I have just got over it although it has left my chest in a poor state. Seemingly that takes a bit to clear up also. It wiped me. It screwed my New Year plans up completely on top. I don't ever want to look at a bowl of soup again.

I doubt very much that this statement is true.

Norovirus is particularly nasty for those who are very elderly and the very young. It is also very easy to pass on. The only way to contain it is to close wards to visitors.

When swine flu first emerged patients were told not to come into A&E but to telephone the Flu hotline at the time and they were spoken to by doctors and a relative had to pick up their antivirals from the nearest walk in centre.

Hospitals don't close wards because they feel like a rest or because waiting lists are long, wards are closed to eradicate the spread of infection to the most vulnerable

I think my supergenes have been working at full tilt. Our two littleuns have had nasty bugs last/this week, and Siren's struggling with it too. I'm as fresh as a spring daisy however. I just don't seem to get ill much. I think I'm going to be one of those people who are known to be as fit as a fiddle and drop down dead on my 80th birthday.
