Wake up and smell the coffee

Personally I prefer to smell the roses.
What are your favourite smells, how do they make you feel.
Coal tar soap invigorates me.
Lavender calms me.
New mown grass simply makes me want to fill my lungs with air, as does the smell once it’s rained that there’s a word for that I can’t remember.

I love the smell of Dove soap, makes me feel calm and together.
I love the smell of old books, the sort of dusty, slightly musky smell that makes me think of those who'd have pored over the text before me. All those lives, loves, losses. Makes me feel nostalgic and happy and safe.
I love the smell of freshly sliced lemons. Not the artificial cloying smell but real lemons. It makes me feel joyful and hopeful, remembering experiences before.
And I really love the basic bitch smell of freshly baked bread. That labour of love that goes into it. It makes me feel homely, content.

I used to love my dogs feet, I used to call her popcorn paws!
Leather. When I used to open the tack room door first thing in the morning after cleaning the tack the day before |

I love the smell of petrol. And that general ‘car engine’ smell … a mix of oil, dirt, petrol and what have you. The way my hands smell after an afternoon on the spanners.
And coffee! Not my morning coffee, but the smell that hits you when you open a fresh bag of beans. All that CO2 from the beans degassing in the bag.
And, since this is Fab … the smell of sex. Not the sweaty, in-the-moment smell of each other, but afterwards. Those times when you’re walking away, back into the ‘real world’ after a snatched moment with your lover and you can still smell them when you breathe in deeply. Their perfume on your breath. Or more … the taste of them lingering and coming back to you each time you inhale. That’s just glorious. |

Leather,
horses, it's a calming almost homely smell,
And the smell of freshly hot shod horse hooves, and freshly horn burnt sheep

"Did I teach you that?"
I’m pretty sure I learned it at school.

"Wild garlic when walking through the woods"
There are some patches so big around here that I can smell the wild garlic from the car when I drive past. It’s invigorating. |

"Honey, fresh baking, when I can still smell the perfume of someone I have been with that I really like"
Ahh the perfume, forgot that 1. Best smelt on the bed sheets or when you go to wash the shirt you was wearing and the scent is still there. |

Coffee - energised
Wood fires - relaxed
Lime - refreshed
Steak - Primal I may growl
French bakeries when the baguettes come out. - lush
